Honors College: salisbury.edu/honors The Honors College is designed to bring together high-achieving students and dedicated faculty in a small university environment. Completing the necessary coursework for honors requires sustained effort across many semesters, and the capstone (or thesis) project shows your ability to work independently at a high level. CREDIT OVERV Students are required to complete: IEW 120 credit hours of coursework with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Some majors require more than 120 hours, usually to meet accreditation standards. See your department for details. 45 credits must be in General Education courses, of which you’ll need: Composition & Literature (2 courses), History (2 courses), Humanities & Social Sciences (3 courses), Natural Science, Math, Computer Science (4 courses) and Health Fitness (1 course). Incoming freshman and transfer students are automatically pre-registered for the first semester of classes. After completing the first semester, students will register themselves for classes on GullNet. See page below for step-by-step directions on registering for your second semester of classes. Each incoming student is assigned an academic advisor. Once a semester, during program planning, students meet with their advisor to plan courses for the following semester. It has allowed me to not only become a part of a community but also to build one myself. Your Residence Hall We cover all the basics! By coordinating with your roommate, you can make a plan of what you need to bring. Your bed Your mattress will be a twin, extra-long and measures 36 x 80 inches. The size sheets you’ll need to bring is twin extra-long (twin XL). All halls on the main campus, with the exception of Dogwood Village, have the loftable bed system. The bed can either be lofted all the way up or down, depending on student preference. To loft your bed, please submit a request to one of the Housing and Residence Life staff members. Move-In Move-in for the fall semester 2020 will be determined based on University System of Maryland policy and current pandemic guidelines. Please refer to your campus email or the housing website for current information. 18
Getting Your Mail Each student living on campus is assigned their own mailbox at the SU Post Office located in the bottom level of the (Dining) Commons. Each mailbox has a combination lock, which is issued at the beginning of the semester. Mail is delivered and sorted into student mailboxes at 8 a.m. and noon, Monday-Friday. When you receive a package, you will receive a notification via email. You’ll be able to pick up your package at the service window using your GullCard. Getting Involved Make the most of your time at SU There are many ways to make SU your new home, whether you live on campus or in the community.
