Make Sweet Memories Through Storytelling in the The Sweetest Place on Earth - Hershey, PA! Monday, April 9th – Thursday, April 12th, 2018 Welcome to Hershey! Welcome to the NAAM 2018 Annual Conference! The theme for this year’s conference is “Storytelling” and the conference is being hosted by the AACA Museum, Inc. in Hershey, Pennsylvania with side trips to our affiliate partner, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and to private collections and America On Wheels Museum in Allentown, PA.
About The Hershey-Harrisburg Region: Hershey is known as The Sweetest Place on Earth for our founding father Milton S. Hershey, who is the creator of the world famous Hershey’s chocolate bar. Today The Hershey Company creates a variety of delectable treats that are enjoyed by millions every day. You know that we’re a community built on chocolate, but you might not know that Milton Hershey had to persevere through several bankruptcies before he became successful and that he was also quite a philanthropist. Milton Hershey decided to build his chocolate factory in Derry Church, PA (aka Hershey) because of the abundance of farmland which was needed for the many dairy farms producing milk for his milk chocolate. From there grew the town, work for many, and lots of entertainment for their families. His successful endeavors eventually led to a school for disadvantaged children to be cared for, educated and given a new lease on life. We look forward to sharing his story and that of our community with all of you as you visit with us in April. We have character and characters, coasters and culture all wrapped up in our small town where the street lights are shaped like Hershey’s kisses. So come for our rich history and come for the fun . . .and of course the chocolate!
