        Metering
        IPL has utilized Automated Meter Reading
        (AMR) since the late 1990’s. AMR is a one-way,
        wireless, data transmission system. The AMR
        meter collects usage information and sends it
        to IPL to use in billing.
        Over the past few years, IPL has begun slowly
        deploying Automated Metering Infrastructure
        (AMI) technology. This allows real-time
        two-way communication between metering
