WARNING! DON’T FLATTEN
YOUR HAIR WITH GORILLA GLUE
Kamogelo Muvhenzhe

When Tessica Brown ran out of hair spray she reached for what
she thought was the next best thing.

Gorilla glue.

Now her hair has been stuck in the same position on her head
for more than a month - and she needs medical treatment.

The water resistant adhesive which is used to bond floor tiles
and wooden floors is said to be permanent.

Brown, from Louisiana in the United States, posted a video on
Tiktok saying she washed her hair 15 times with no luck.

"My hair, don’t move. You hear what I'm telling you? It don't
move," she says in the video.

In one of the clips she is seen smearing her head with shampoo,
but it makes no difference to the glue stuck to her hair.

TMZ reports that the hospital supplied her with nail polish
remover, saline water and wipes to remove the glue. But even
those items proved useless and only caused a burning
sensation on her scalp.

Without offering any permanent solution, Gorilla Glue company
spray reached out to her on Twitter and said: "Hi there, we are
sorry to learn about your experience!

“We don’t recommend using our products in hair as the glue is
considered permanent," the message read which is not
particularly helpful.

"You can try soaking the affected area in warm, soapy water or
applying rubbing alcohol to the area," which seemed a little
weak seeing as she had already gone for medical assistance.

Brown received a lot of comments, some sympathetic, and
some downright rude!

Five year old hit by stray bullet fired by
cops
Everson Luhanga

A five year old boy just spent his first night in
excruciating pain in hospital after he was shot by
a stray bullet during a shootout between police
                  and carjackers.

The incident happened yesterday around 11am on 7th Street in
Alexandra Township, north of Johannesburg.

Eye witnesses say about six gunshots were fired and the boy
was hit in the thigh.

And the police have refused to accept any responsibility,
claiming the boy was hit by the hijacked car and not shot by
them.

Gontse Mathebula had been sent to the local spaza shop by his
mom, Keneilwe to buy bread.
WARNING! DON'T FLATTEN YOUR HAIR WITH GORILLA GLUE - Scrolla.Africa
The energetic boy nicknamed Sgonono has made this quick
dash to the spaza many times before.

Keneilwe got worried when Sgonono was taking longer to
return than usual.

The 32-year old mother said she gave her son R20 to buy bread
for the family but before her son returned, she said she heard
gunshots outside the yard.

Soon, Sgonono’s sister came running to her mother to tell her
that her little brother had been shot by the police who were
chasing a couple of car thieves in Pretoria.

One suspected thug was shot dead, another escaped on foot.
Keneilwe spoke to Scrolla.Africa from her home in Alexandra.
She said when she asked police what happened, cops told her
that her son was hit by the suspects’ car.

“My son is still at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital with a bullet stuck
in his left leg.

“I cried in front of the police demanding an explanation of what
happened, but they didn’t take me seriously.”
WARNING! DON'T FLATTEN YOUR HAIR WITH GORILLA GLUE - Scrolla.Africa
Sgonono had been transferred from Alex Masakane Clinic to
Charlotte Maxeke Hospital by the time Keneilwe could arrive.
He spent a night in a hospital bed, while doctors prepared scans
and surgery.

Sgonono’s uncle Terrence Mathebula was an eyewitness to the
shooting.

He said the police have wrongly claimed Sgonono got hit by the
car: “We need police to answer for this. Whoever shot my
nephew must account for it.”

A police statement confirmed the hijacking and shootout, but
did not comment on Sgonono's shooting.

Court interpreter in the dock
Kabelo Tlhabanelo

Court interpreter Joseph Moroka is no stranger to the courts,
but on Tuesday he found himself in the dock.

This was after he was arrested by the Hawks after he allegedly
committed corruption and theft.

Spokeswoman for the Hawks Nomthandazo Mnisi told
Scrolla.Africa the crimes go back more than three years.

"Joseph Moroka appeared briefly at Hartswater Magistrate’s
Court today for alleged corruption and theft,” said Mnisi.

“The accused was arrested earlier this morning at his work
place by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation team after
investigation.”

It is alleged that between June 2016 and October 2017,
Moroka, who is a court Setswana interpreter, contacted a
suspect's sister in an alleged stock theft case and demanded a

gratification of R2,500 in order to have him released. In a
separate but related incident, Moroka approached the
suspect's mother in a drug related case and demanded a
gratification of R1,000 in order to release the suspect.

The suspect has been granted R3,000 bail and the case has
been postponed to 16 March.

behaviour
Sizwe Sibiya

Fresh Gqom duo, the ‘Worst Behaviour’ are breaking into the
commercial music scene with a bang!

More than five well known Durban artists have helped
introduce the talented DJs, distant relatives Pex (Vukani
Buthelezi) and Boi Again (Mfanafuthi Buthelezi) from Inanda
township, to the nation by becoming part of the remix of their
song Samba Ngolayini.
WARNING! DON'T FLATTEN YOUR HAIR WITH GORILLA GLUE - Scrolla.Africa
The 23-year-old Pex and 26-year-old Boi again, released Samba
Ngolayini on 18 December with international star DJ Lag and
Gento Bareto, a famous skhothane who’s also a house music
artist from the Vaal.

“Many artists kept asking to be part of the song when they
heard it being played in clubs around Durban,” said the duo’s
manager Portia Lines.

Portia told Scrolla.Africa the first version of the song with only
Worst Behaviour was first released in 2018 and then they
started getting requests from artists to do the remix.

On 5 February the remix was finally released and is currently
sitting at number 13 on the Apple Music Charts followed closely
by the original at number 19.

Portia said even though the remix consists of big artist’s like
Beast, DJ Tira, Tipcee, DJ Lag, Okmalumkoolkat and Gento
Bareto - Worst Behaviour is still not signed to a record label.

The song has a dance to it and the name means “everything is
going according to plan.”

And everything seems to be going according to plan for the duo
who have also released a top music video for the remix under
DJ Tira’s Ezase Afro YouTube channel.

“We are working on pushing the music video and making more
music. We want to collaborate with other artists as well. The
duo can also do afro-house and amapiano,” said Portia.

PE’s dustbinpreneurs learn to survive in
lean times
Mkhuseli Sizani

When they lost their jobs due to Covid-19, they
looked for different opportunities - and the four
young men from Govan Mbeki Township, Port
Elizabeth are making money while serving their community.

Bonile Fadana, Sinesipho Ndlaleni, Siviwe Lokwe and Siphelele
Maswana came together last year and formed the Govan Mbeki
Youth Movement and they have created jobs for themselves
and another two youths from their kasi.

Bonile told Scrolla.Africa he was a security guard, Sinesipho
worked at a retail shop and Siviwe was a waiter.

“But we had no income because of the lockdown. We
approached Buyile Mtimkulu for a job in his tyre business but
he advised us to think about dustbins,” said Bonile.

“He advised us to approach the community and ask to remove
their bins from their homes on collection days.”

The idea yielded good results.

“Since September we have achieved a lot. We have 38
customers and we put out and wash their bins on Wednesdays
when the municipality collects rubbish. We charge R15 per
week,” he said.

He said they have bought garden tools to offer garden services
and the service is going so well that they have created two jobs
for two assistants.
“The garden project is also doing well and we have opened a
car wash with the income from the garden services and we are
selling energy drinks to motorists,” he said.

In giving back to the community for their support, they assist
the elderly by planting their vegetable gardens.

“This is our Vukuzenzele. Other youth can also learn from us.
We thank Buyile for his support and guidance.”

Families left out in the cold as houses
are demolished
Lungani Zungu

About 30 families have been left stranded after a
local businessman allegedly demolished their
homes, claiming they were built on his land.

Distraught resident Christopher Ngidi who lives in one of the
houses in Tongaat, KZN said he has stayed in the house for
about 20 years.
“I don’t know where I will stay. I’m unemployed and I don’t
have money to build a house somewhere else,” he told
Scrolla.Africa.

He shared the house with his mother, Mavis Ngidi, who died in
2014. Ngidi said they were given the plot of land by its owner
who died many years ago.

“We always lived here. This is the house where we shared
memories,” he said.

“Now the owner of nearby land claimed that we built our
houses on his land.”

Ngidi said the new owner, whom he only knew as Mr
Govender, did not provide them with an eviction order.

Resident Nhlanhla Mncwabe said: “We have tried to negotiate
with the person who is demolishing our homes but he won’t
talk to us.”

Mncwabe said the man was claiming land that fell outside of his
plot.
“We have told him we would go if he produces an eviction
letter but he can’t do it because he’s claiming land that doesn’t
belong to him,” said Mncwabe.

Govender declined to comment. Any further attempts to reach
him were unsuccessful as his phone went to voicemail. He also
did not respond to questions sent to him by SMS.

Ward councillor Zanele Khumalo said she has set up a meeting
with residents for Monday next week.

“I want to try and find a solution to this matter urgently,” she
said.

EXTREMELY SMALL REPTILE HAS
EXTRAORDINARILY LARGE PENISES
Arthur Greene

The Brookesia nano, or micro-chameleon, made
headlines earlier this month after scientists
announced that it is the smallest species of
reptile ever discovered after being found on Madagascar.
However, the male Brookesias have found themselves in the
limelight once again after their discoverers revealed that they
have disproportionately large penises.

The average length of a male is just under 22mm from nose to
tale. Its genitals, however, are over 4mm long, making up an
incredible 18.5% of its total body size.

And as if this creature wasn’t satisfied enough by having one of
(proportionally speaking) the largest penises on the planet, its
researchers say it possesses “large, apparently fully developed
hemipenes”.

This means that it has two of them. Two gigantic penises.

Interestingly, the female Brookesia is significantly larger than
their well-hung counterpart, at an average length of roughly
28.9mm.

Scientists have speculated that the remarkable size of these
reptiles may be due to “island dwarfism,” the theory that
creatures living on islands, such as Madagascar, evolved to be
smaller to make up for a lack of resources.
Dr Mark Scherz, one of the scientists who discovered this
species, wrote on Twitter that while most of its body could
adapt to its environment by shrinking, not all of it could.

“If the female remains larger than the male, a constraint is
placed on the reduction of the male genital size.”

In other words, its penis has to remain a certain size in order to
mate successfully with the female.

He added, “The male in fact rides around on the female's back
until she is ready to mate.”

So if there’s one thing we should learn from this bizarre little
creature it’s probably this:

If you find that a tiny chameleon has hopped onto your back,
you better be ready.
Pitso’s brave men go down, but he
earns respect
Menzi Magubane

The name Pitso "Jingles" Mosimane will be heard in the world
of football for a long time to come.

Despite losing the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final 2-0 on
Monday night, Mosimane has earned respect for the bravery
that his players displayed in the match.

Mosimane's Al Ahly held their own against European
champions Bayern Munich, who are considered by many to be
the best team in the world.

But Mosimane himself was not a happy man after losing his
first match as the Red Devils coach.

"Tasted my first loss, so sick," he tweeted after the match.
Many would feel that Jingles is being too hard on himself, but
his record with Al Ahly reflects his appetite for winning. Since
Mosimane joined the Egyptian side in September they have
won 18 matches and drawn four, with their first loss this season
coming against Bayern.

"Not the results we wanted. We will have to improve on many
aspects,” he said.

“Football at World Cup level shows you that you have a lot of
work to do, especially when you are playing against the
Champions of Europe."

Despite the disappointing result, Mosimane has written his
name in the history books of the Club World Cup: he is the first
South African coach to lead a team to the last four of the
competition.

In 2016 Mosimane became the first South African to ever coach
in the competition with Mamelodi Sundowns. He lost in the
quarter-final to Japanese side Kashima Antlers, who went on to
lose to Real Madrid in the final.

On Thursday Mosimane and his Al Ahly will take on Brazilian
side Palmeiras in the third place play-off at Education City
Stadium in Doha, Qatar at 5pm. This is the opening match for
the final, where the victorious Bayern Munich will take on
Mexican side Tigers UANL.

Buccaneers win eases pressure on
Zinnbauer
Menzi Magubane

Orlando Pirates 2-0 victory over Cape Town City
at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday saw them climb
back to fourth place in the DStv Premiership with
28 points.

Despite scoring two goals in the opening five minutes of the
game, Pirates wasted a number of other goal-scoring
opportunities to win the game by an even bigger margin. Their
coach Josef Zinnbauer felt his side should have done better in
front of goal.
"It was a good game. But I'm unbelievably disappointed with
the way we missed our scoring chances. We were not clinical
enough and it's disappointing," said Zinnbauer.

The German was under immense pressure going into the match
after losing 2-0 to Golden Arrows last Tuesday. Zinnbauer
couldn't hold back his frustration with the way striker
Thembinkosi Lorch continued to misfire when in the
opponent’s box.

"We were under pressure before this game. And we needed
this win. We had a good team talk before the game and we
worked hard at the back. But I'm still frustrated with how we
continue to miss chances to bury games. Lorch could have
scored two goals in the last two minutes of the game."

The win also helped Pirates keep their league unbeaten record
at Orlando Stadium intact. Their last home loss was to Bidvest
Wits back in August 2018.

One encouraging factor for Zinnbauer was to see Dion Hotto
score the fastest goal of the season so far. The Namibian gave
Bucs the lead just 46 seconds into the game and Vincent Pule
made it two in the 5th minute.
In the other match played earlier on Tuesday, SuperSport
missed out on a glorious chance to cut the deficit between
them and leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to two points. United
were beaten 2-1 away by Bloemfontein Celtic, and now sit five
points behind Downs.

United will feel hard done by referee Philip Tiyane, and with
good reason, as Harris Tchilimbou, who assisted Celtic's game-
winner, was offside in the buildup play leading to the goal.

A lot to play for as English Premier
League battles heat up
Menzi Magubane

The race for English Premier League positions is
heating up - from the top positions to the
relegation zone. Manchester City are five points
clear on top of the table and are looking good to win the
championship, but the battle for the top four places is intense.
The top four teams represent England in the Uefa Champions
League.

So far it's the Manchester giants, City and United, with
Leicester City and Liverpool who are in the top spots, but the
season is far from over.

In fifth place Chelsea and West Ham United are just a single
point behind fourth placed Liverpool. Everton, Tottenham
Hotspur, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Arsenal are still hovering
in the wings.

As a consolation, the teams that finish fifth and sixth will
represent England in the Uefa Europa League along with the
Emirates FA Cup winner.

The Premier League round of 24 fixtures will be on this
weekend with big games. Dejected fourth place Liverpool will
visit high in spirit third place Leicester City on Saturday at
2.30pm.

Later on Saturday, leaders Man City will host eighth place
Tottenham at 7.30pm. City will be looking to cement their top
spot with a win while Spurs will hope their win will take them
closer to the Champions League spot.
At the bottom of the table Sheffield United, West Brom and
Fulham could all find themselves relegated.
