Staff Member Name: BRIAN STOCKING GEORGIA STOCKING Pet Bio: Georgia is a rescue dog, I got her from Scott County Shelter in fall 2012. She is very protective. She loves her stuffed animals (raccoon, jaguar, giraffe, lion, tiger, squirrel and leopard). She loves car rides and going for a walk. She sleeps on the couch and usually props her head on the pillow and loves her being covered up in a warm blanket. She enjoys liversausage, cold cuts, cheese, potato chips, pupperoni treats. On holidays, we give her a special plate of food as she is part of the family. She weights about 20 pounds, neither the shelter nor the vet can determine her real age but speculate she is 10 years old.
Staff Member Name: Carla Veasey Juliet Pet Bio: Juliet is my 10 year old little princess. She is a Coton de Tulear which is a breed of dogs that originated in Madagascar. She weighs about 9 pounds and loves to go on walks, rides in the car and run around the backyard. She also loves to have her picture taken!
Staff Member Name: Anne Pacha Tramp Pet Bio: Tramp is 14 years old. He is a miniature long haired dachshund. Tramp came to live with me when he was 3. This little guy is a fighter. He became paralyzed back in 2017 and battled his way back. He now has about 85% movement in one back leg and about 50% in the other. His run is more like a hop! Maybe I should rename him Thumper. But he can really move when he wants. He likes to act like a big boss but is really just a little sweetie.
Staff Member Name: Jill Lafrenz Kratos Pet Bio: Kratos is 6 years old and spends most of his time under the bed. He has some anxiety issues with people. He thinks he's a "big dog" when barking at two large Huskies that live behind us. Kratos is very scared of thunderstorms and fireworks. He loves carrots and snow peas as snacks. He is a small dog with a big dog attitude.
Staff Member Name: Sarah Ebener Tyrone Pet Bio: Hi, my name is Tyrone, and I am a mini-poodle. I am going to be 15 years old this Halloween. That means I can get my driver's permit. My family adopted me when I was 9 years old. I can't see or hear very well, but I get around the house okay, like a little Roomba vacuum cleaner - when I bump into something, I just turn around and keep walking! I am about 15 pounds, and I like to sport a salt-and-pepper mustache. I like to spend my time napping and looking for treats to eat. My favorite food is chicken, but I enjoy any human food I can get.

Her favorite toy is my slippers especially when I am wearing them. Charlie is 13 years old. He has a stuffed reindeer that has to go to bed with him every night. We once spent an hour looking for his reindeer called Humpy. Everything is his favorite food and he loves to chase the squirrels and chipmunks in the yard. His other favorite pastime is eating.
Staff Member Name: Annie McMahon Gus Pet Bio: Gus is a six month old Boston Terrier weighing in at about 11 pounds. He loves to cuddle and chase feet with socks on (this winter will be very interesting). Our family loves his playful nature and his abundant energy! He is beginning to beg for people food, even though he doesn't get to indulge too often. He joined our family June 2nd and has been spoiled ever since!

He is a really good jumper and can go over pretty high hurdles! He also loves to wrestle with his dad and pretend he's a lap dog even though he is 52 lbs! Ever since he's been allowed on the bed he loves to lick ears and keep his humans warm OR come up and squeak his pink elephant toy in your ear to wake you up and get the day going! He is also learning how to listen better so he can help with his cow brothers and sisters on the farm. As you can see from his picture, he is such a happy boy!
Staff Member Name: Brad Hartje Robby Hartje Pet Bio: Found wandering around the I-80 Truckstop by animal control workers in 2013. I got him from the Scott County Humane Society. Staff Member Name: Lisa Heinen Peanut (a.k.a Bear) Pet Bio: After our last cat passed away, my husband said "No More Cats!" Then one evening while he was grilling super, a super tiny little kitten came out from under our sun porch. My husband fed this tiny little thing and kept feeding her. She was wild and wouldn't let us touch her. My husband then left on a business trip for 3 weeks and I continued to feed her and eventually tame her. She now lives a life of luxury in our home as "His Cat" which I refer to as "his midlife crisis". She's an indoor/outdoor cat and I am just the doorman. There for awhile she was getting really chubby, so we cut down the amount of food we would give her, but she was still getting fat. Come to find out that Peanut would go over to our neighbors and cry at their back patio door until they would come out and give her an entire can of tuna everyday! She's a big Faker! She really needs a collar that says."Hi, my name is Peanut. Do not feed me. I have a family, I'm just a big Faker!" All the neighbors know her now. She can be a real brat when she wants, but we love her just the same.
Staff Member Name: Lori Palmgren Luci Lu and Charlie Ann Pet Bio: We rescued Luci Lu from a shelter who rescues dogs from all over the United States. She had a litter of pups before we got her and they had all been adopted out also. She was very afraid and shook all the time. She won the lottery when we got her. She loves to play with her ball and loves to chew on bones. She loves to go bye bye in the car and we spoil her. She is part beagle and rat terrier. She has epilepsy so we have to give her medicine three times a day. We take great care of her and we get lots of puppy kisses for doing it. She loves to wrestle with our Bengal cat and take naps with my husband and I. We love her! Charlie Ann is our Bengal Cat. She is like a dog, she likes to play fetch. You throw her toy mouse and she will go and get it and bring it back to you. She likes to wake us up at 4:30 AM. She likes bananas and caramel. She is a character. The other cat is Sophie, aka old cat, she lived to be 16. We had to have her put down today. We will miss her.
Staff Member Name: Peggy Guetzko Lucy and Squeakers Pet Bio: Lucy likes to play football. This is her favorite game. Go Hawks! Squeakers the black cat was 4 days old when we found him with his brother. Squeaks lost his meow due to being abandoned. So he can only squeak. Staff Member Name: Clint Balsar Lacey Balsar Pet Bio: Lacey was brought into our family fold almost 10 years ago and is still called a "puppy" by anyone who sees her on walks. She was a scared little girl at the Scott County Humane Society when we met her. She would shake like crazy from the anxiety of being in the kennel with all the larger barking dogs, so they gave her play dates with a few of the cats in the office. She still acts more like a cat than a dog. She never barks at other dogs (usually just ignores them and walks on by). She also LOVES to sunbathe in any sliver of light she can find. Lacey is the perfect lap dog as long as you have a blanket and don't accidentally sit on her, as she is always curled up inside of one!
Staff Member Name: Wendy Shaw Alvin, Sully, and Peanut Butter Pet Bio: Alvin- old golden, Sully- yellow lab, Peanut Butter aka "Peanut"- little girl dog. These pups are avid Iowa State Cyclone Fans. Staff Member Name: Jenny Davis Rose and Marcus Garvey Rose the cat is not a typical cat. She is aggressively friendly and loves to eat broccoli. In addition, she is a world traveler who has lived in Iowa and South Korea. She was not a fan of being in her carrier that long. The best thing about Rose is that I am her favorite person. She also is known to make sounds that sound like Yoda! We adopted Marcus just a few days before my husband’s first deployment. He was already named Marcus but we added the last name Garvey. So he was my sole companion during that year. He is now a old man who thinks he has never been feed food ever. People who hate cats love Marcus. A few of these people have given him nicknames like George! He is also a world traveler and has lived in Tennessee, Iowa, and South Korea. He loves fresh water and begs for us to turn on the faucet. He has never met someone he doesn’t like.
Staff Member Name: Tricia Bird Lucy Pet Bio: This is Lucy. She is 15 years old. Her hobbies include laying in the sun and begging for wet cat food. During her free time she likes to intimidate the dog and glare at human family members until they retrieve the wet cat food. She likes to sit on human laps but makes it clear that this will be a commitment of no less than one hour. Failure to honor this commitment will result in harsh meowing and more glaring. Apologies will be accepted in the form of wet cat food.

Staff Member Name: Holly English Charlie Pet Bio: Charlie is an American Staffordshire Terrier/American Bulldog/Bulldog mix. She is a little over two years old and close to 90 lbs. She has spread some couch fluff around the living room a time or two, but that face usually gets her out of trouble!!
Staff Member Name: Dana Whittemore Palmer Pet Bio: Hey! I'm Palmer! I love sticking my head out the window during car rides; sometimes I try to stick my whole body out the window because I love the feel of the wind! I like long walks, until I don't. Then I just lay down on my back with my feet straight up in the air until I'm ready to move again. I am just now learning how to catch a frisbee, I'm not very good at catching it yet so instead of bringing the frisbee back to my humans I make them catch me first. It's only fair. Mostly though I love my humans, they're my best friends!

Staff Member Name: Connie Hoeppner Chewy Pet Bio: Chewy is 5.5 months old. He weighs almost 5 pounds and is almost full grown. He thinks he is “Zeus the Mighty”. His favorite toy is my 17year old Granddaughter, Emma and when he plays with her full grown standard Poodles he is Zeus the Mighty, and in charge!! His favorite quiet activity is loving on and hugging his humans. When he senses sadness he will quietly “talk” to you and soon you feel comforted and happy.
Staff Member Name: Laura Vyncke Bentley and Ed Pet Bio: Bentley and Ed are "brudders". They love to play and run after each other. Ed mostly barks his loudest to play. Staff Member Name: Lisa Tanner Daisy My name is Daisy, often referred to as crazy Daisy or lazy Daisy. I am a 6 year old white, freckled Pointer mix. I work full time in security, keeping watch of my owner’s property. I excel at extermination of all wildlife and an expert in snake, shrew and chipmunk removal. My owners have installed a 7 foot “puppy prison fence” to help me with my job. I’m not afraid to excavate under the garage or in the planting beds to keep my owners safe from trespassers. When I’m not on duty, I enjoy lounging on any soft surface and running—I am fast! Walking is overrated. Favorite foods include apples, peppers, popcorn and tortilla chips. My nemesis is the motorcycle next door and my favorite person is Zoe my human sister.
