IN THE DUGOUT WITH CRAIG EDWARDS Good Afternoon & welcome to our opponents Ware FC and also our officials for todays game. I am looking forward to this A10 derby, especially after the 1-0 win over Canvey in the FA Cup. I was particularly pleased with the 1-0 win because it told me a lot about the team & what we can do. I thought we created by far the better chances on Saturday, and we will need to work on some finishing, but just creating more opportunities, will bring more goals. Forcing a footballing team like Canvey to take their best player off and throw two big lumps up top to go long was satisfying, especially as by the last quarter of the match it was clear we were the fitter side and managed to maintain the press to good effect shutting down supply and forcing errors. Ware come into the game with a decent away win in the cup and four different goalscorers in their two league games to date, so we will need to be at our best, but I am sure we have the squad to take three points today Enjoy the Match ! WARE FC Arena/Stadium: Wodson Park League: Isthmian South Central Chairman: Inanc Elitok Capacity: 3300 Founded: 1892 Manager: John Dreyer Nickname: The Blues After the First World War the Club gained a league and cup double with a second Herts County League Championship and a fourth Herts Senior Cup win in 1922. The scenes in Ware when the team returned with the Senior Cup tell us something about the hold that football had on local loyalties at the time. The local paper reported that "Large crowds awaited the return of the special train to Ware, everybody being in high spirits. The Cup was marched through the town in front of a cheering throng." Indeed, it was later recalled that the cup was taken through the town on subsequent nights and that stops were made outside public houses where it was charged with beer before being drained by the crowd. Stotfold then grew into the match without ever giving the Waders anything to think about in defence. So it was unfortunate when they conceded a second goal on the stroke of half time, with the unmarked scorer moving into space to finish of a cross from the right. At the break Stotfold changed their whole outfield, which made one or two regulars grimace a bit. But the ‘new’ side Travellers Tales transpired to be slightly better than the one they replaced.
