Walking & Tramping AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND CRUISE In each port of call we will be met by our coach and will transfer to a fantastic walking track, many of which are the best short walks in New Zealand. All of the walks have the spectacular scenery of Australia and New Zealand on show. DAY 1 Sunday 14 February, 2021 Sydney/Departure This afternoon board the Regal Princess on this fantastic walking & tramp- ing cruise of Australia and New Zealand. Be up on deck as we cruise Sydney Harbour and out through Sydney Heads. DAY 2 Monday 15 February, 2021 At sea A day at sea to explore and enjoy the fabulous facilities of the ship. This evening we have a welcome drinks party so you can meet other passengers in the group. DAY 3 Tuesday 16 February, 2021 Hobart Our first walk of the cruise takes us to one of Hobart’s most famous landmarks. We transfer a short distance to the base of Mount Wellington and the distinctive rock formation; the Organ Pipes. The Organ Pipes form a magnificent sight along this track which runs just below their base. The Organ Pipes Track is one of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks”. We will then continue to the top of Mount Wellington and the lookout over Hobart. We return to the ship and enjoy free time to wander Salamanca Place and Hobart. DAY 4 Wednesday 17 February, 2021 At sea DAY 6 Friday 19 February, 2021 Fiordland National Park, New Zealand A day at sea to enjoy the fabulous facilities of the ship. Perhaps enjoy a walk around the outdoors walking track or in the fitness centre. Today we cruise through some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand as we visit Milford Sound followed by Doubtful and Dusky Sounds. DAY 7 Saturday 20 February, 2021 Dunedin Today we arrive in Dunedin. Originally founded by Scottish settlers and known as the Edinburgh of the South. We are transferred to the beautiful Otago Peninsula just outside of Dunedin. We begin with a walk along Victory Beach, named after the SS Victory ship that sank off its shores in 1861. It is home to sea lions, fur seals, blue and yellow-eyed penguins. We will also see the rock formation known as the Pyramids before visiting the Royal Albatross Centre, the only mainland breeding colony of the Royal Albatross in the world. DAY 8 Sunday 21 February, 2021 Akaroa This morning we arrive in Akaroa on the spectacular Banks Peninsula. Enjoy a walk from Akaroa to the Akaroa Heritage Park and return with wonderful views of Akaroa Harbour and the surrounding hills followed by two short

From a short distance outside of Picton we follow an old gold miners trail as it weaves through the range between the Wairau Valley and Linkwater. There will be plenty of opportunities to take scenic photos along the way on this challenging but varied walk. DAY 10 Tuesday 23 February, 2021 Wellington Today we call into Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. We will enjoy a coastal walk along the Makara track, a short distance outside of Wellington. The high cliffs and spectacular views that are features of Makara have for centuries provided the people of the area with good vantage points for the defence of their land. The Makara Track climbs past an ancient Maori pa site and the remains of World War II gun emplacements. DAY 11 Wednesday 24 February, 2021 At sea DAY 14 Saturday 27 February, 2021 Taupo A day at sea to explore and enjoy the fabulous facilities of the ship. We depart Auckland for Taupo in the Central North Island. Along the way we stop at Karangahake Gorge. This historic region combines gold mining DAY 12 Thursday 25 February, 2021 Tauranga/ Rotorua history and natural beauty. We will explore the area with the Windows Walk This morning we arrive in Tauranga. After disembarking we will be met by and the Rail Tunnel Loop. We continue onto Lake Taupo, arriving late afternoon. DAY 15 Sunday 28 February, 2021 Tongariro Alpine Crossing Today we tackle the highlight of the tour, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We trek across volcanic alpine landscape of dramatic contrasts – steaming vents, glacial valleys, ancient lava flows, alpine vegetation and vivid crater lakes, all with stunning views. This challenging trip begins at 1120m, climbs the Mangatepopo Valley to the saddle between Mount Tongariro and Mount Ngauruhoe, through South Crater before climbing again to Red Crater, the highest point on the crossing at 1886m. We will then descend on a volcanic rock scree track to the vivid Emerald Lakes, known as Nga Rotopounamu. After passing Blue Lake, also known as Te Wai-whakaata- o-te-Rangihiroa (Rangihiroa’s mirror), the track sidles around the northern slope of Tongariro, then descends in a zigzag track down to the road end. We return to Taupo for our farewell dinner. DAY 16 Monday 1 March, 2021 Depart This morning we transfer to Auckland Airport for our flights back to Australia.
