About the Mission
The Maryland Department of Commerce (U.S. state’s primary economic development agency) is
running a Virtual Trade Mission to Australia in June 2021. The main objective of the Mission is to
enhance and promote collaboration for the Maryland – Australia space relationship.
Roundtable Event:
‘Monitoring the Health of the Earth using Space & Airborne Based Technologies’
As part of the Mission, we are hosting a virtual roundtable event on Thursday, 3 June on the topic:
‘Monitoring the Health of the Earth using Space & Airborne Based Technologies’.
The focus of the roundtable will be to discuss how issues within three key areas (fire, water and
Earth) are affecting both Australia and Maryland, and how challenges related to them can be better
addressed in the future through earth observation technologies such as satellites and UAVs.
The roundtable will feature US and Australian industry experts from the following organizations:
• Australian Space Agency (Australia)
• CSIRO - The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australia)
• Howard University (Washington, D.C.)
• NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (Maryland)
• SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) (Australia)
