Virtual Activities Coming soon: Walk and talk. Free guided and socially distanced walks led by practitioners for pregnant mums and families with new babies. The walks will take place in local parks in the West End. Meet and chat to other families, share experiences, talk to practitioners, share tips and gain advice. Places limited to 5 families. To express an interest ring the Nunsmoor Centre on 0191 2774400 or send a message to our Facebook page. Baby Massage: Learn about baby massage and relaxation for you and your baby. A five week course. Suitable for babies 8 weeks to 12 months. Boogie Bairns: Disco fun for children aged 0-2 years and 3 months. Breastfeeding Social: For pregnant and breastfeeding mums. Meet, socialise and share experiences with support from the Amazing Start Team. Messy Mondays: Play session ages 1 year to 4 years. Music Making: Singing and rhymes for you and your children aged under 5 to enjoy. NEWPIP (Newcastle Parent Infant Partnership) Baby Play starting 26 January A Zoom group session for all parents and carers with babies who aren't yet crawling. Join us with your baby, meet other babies and find new ways of playing and understanding your baby. If your baby is mobile, you are invited to join the Thursday morning group. NEWPIP: Birth to walking group and walking to age 2 group. Zoom group sessions with Kimberley and Marie. Babies and toddlers will have fun, find new ways to play and help their parents notice when they are communicating. Parents will get tips on staying connected, managing their stress, looking after and being kind to themselves as well as helping their baby to manage their feelings. Early Help is a way of describing the extra support your family can receive if you need it. It may be that you want to prevent a problem or change things for your family before the problem becomes more serious. It is voluntary and we need your consent. Early Help brings together workers, some of whom you may know already who will support the whole family to try to make things improve for everyone. Early Help could include support with parenting, employment, anti-social behaviour, school attendance and emotional wellbeing. • Newcastle Parent Infant Partnership (NEWPIP) :Supports families where parents/carers and their babies are experiencing early or more severe longer standing difficulties in their early relationships where babies’ emotional wellbeing and development is at risk. • NEWPIP support line 10-4 Monday to Friday. Tel:0191 2399956 (press 1 for Admin) or Email: newpip.info@children-ne.org.uk. Provides support and advice if you are pregnant or have a baby or toddler up to the age of 2 years. If you are finding things difficult, are feeling worried or stressed or struggling to manage your (or your baby’s) feelings. Our experienced team will listen and help you cope and to find the right support to manage your own wellbeing and that of your baby.
Starting Solids Virtual courses for you and your baby Topics to be covered will include: • When to introduce solid foods. • Which foods to introduce first. • Which foods to avoid. • Dental Health. Free childcare for under fives Parents can access free 15 hours childcare for their two year olds if: • You work and your family income is less than £16,190 or • You are not working but in receipt of benefits or • Your child is in receipt of DLA, or is adopted Please call on: 0191 2773742 or visit http://www.newcastle.gov.uk/health-and-social-care/ childcare/free-early-years-provision-two-year-olds- targetted-offer, to find out more and view the eligibility criteria. All three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours childcare but you are able to claim 30 hours childcare for three and four year olds if: • You (and your partner) work and earn £120+ / week or • you are due to start work and earn £120+ / week. • This can include zero hour contracts, maternity etc. You can use your FREE childcare with a playgroup, day nursery, childminder and some schools. Healthworks Employability and Training January - March 2021 Food Hygiene Level 1 Accredited course This qualification will enable you to have basic knowledge and understanding of the importance of food hygiene, associated food hazards, good hygiene practice and controls based upon an awareness of food safety management systems. This is important to understanding and maintaining good practice in the handling, processing and preparation of safe food. This qualification will be delivered via zoom sessions, so you can access this from the comfort of your own home, dates and times to be arranged. This is followed by a 20 minute multiple-choice examination consisting of 16 questions. You will have to attend in person to take this exam, this will be arranged individually following all social distance rules. Your test paper will be done as an individual at our Benwell or Lemington centres. This is followed by a multiple choice examination: 20 questions to be answered in 30 minutes. You will have to attend in person to take this exam, this will be arranged individually following all social distance rules.
