Message from the Chairman Welcome, As a long time resident and business owner in Donald, I would like you to take the time to look over our Town Prospectus. Donald is a community that prides itself on going forward and welcomes newcomers to our town to help us build a vibrant and livable rural community. For such a small place Donald provides Schools, Doctors, Hospital, Recreation facilities, a bustling retail centre and a thriving commercial and industrial area with a diversity of jobs. Affordable housing, retirement living and if you can’t find the house that you want, Donald has ample vacant land that you can build your dream house on and with the trades people that can do it for you. The climate is great in Donald, as is its location central to and accessible to larger centres and the tourism offering that the Wimmera, Mallee and the Grampians have, you are spoilt for choice in such a pleasant location. There would be no other community in Victoria or Australia in fact that throws its arms wide in welcoming new residents from within Australia or from overseas, with a diverse range of cultures calling us Home. Donald is a regional town located in North Central Victoria, Australia, uniquely located on the Richardson River at the junction of Sunraysia Highway and Borung Highway The township of Donald has a population of 1500 residents living within the broader 6000 strong community of the Buloke Shire Location It is situated half way between Melbourne and Mildura and is linked to Melbourne by: • Good road networks, bus services, an accredited airstrip, and standard rail link – commercial only. • Donald is within two hours of easy driving to the large regional cities of Bendigo and Ballarat, an hour from Horsham, less than four hours from Melbourne. • Set in an undulating landscape of prosperous agricultural and grazing properties. • Established in 1863, it is home to a welcoming friendly community and offers a relaxed lifestyle in the heart of rural Victoria.
