HAVE YOUR SAY Consultations provide you with the opportunity to understand, participate and contribute to the decisions that affect our community. Visit mvcc.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay for more information about current consultations. A new Debneys Park We want your help to develop a new plan for Debneys Park and Flemington Community Centre. Debneys Park is a much-loved community gathering space in Flemington. However, significant population growth is expected and we need to work now to ensure this doesn’t place pressure on the existing facilities, which are nearing the end of their useful life. Based on your feedback, we’re developing a plan for Debneys Park and a concept design for a community hub to replace the existing Flemington Community Centre. The new facilities will help cater for future demand and provide the community with high-quality social, educational, recreational and environmental opportunities. Revitalising the Debneys Park precinct is a priority in our Advocacy Strategy. Check out mvcc.vic.gov.au/advocacy to see our other priorities or head to yoursay.mvcc.vic.gov.au to provide feedback or to find out more. “This part of our city is growing rapidly and it will continue to grow into the future. It's important that we act now so that residents of today and tomorrow have a more active, vibrant and welcoming gathering space. The little league baseball field will be the first of its kind in Australia and will honour the memory of local Essendon baseball player Chris Lane, who was tragically killed in the United States in 2013. We applied for the grant through the State Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund and have also secured $130,000 from Major League Baseball (US), $12,500 from Essendon Baseball Club, and a commitment from Musco Lighting Australia to provide lights for the field. We’ve already invested more than $100,000 into the planning and design of the field. It’s set to be a time of major change at Boeing Reserve, with works almost finished on the new multipurpose pavilion, which is expected to be completed in February 2019.
