CAA+DZ HEADQUARTER
JLL design team
Design & build
Beijing 2019

When CAA+DZ, an idependent department
of JLL family decided to reimagine their exist-
ing office, they were looking for more than just
another office space, they wanted an experience.
An experience that would mirror the culture and
values of the people that come together at JLL
(CAA +DZ) every day.

The shift from high-paneled cubicles to efficient
workstations provides access to natural light and
drives visual connections across teams. Spaces
for collaboration or independent focus are inte-
grated amidst the stations to support the needs
of everyone using the space.

This welcoming and modern design facilitates
a high degree of both client-facing and internal
collaboration. Unique spaces and amenities are
dispersed across the floor promoting connectivi-
ty and movement throughout the office.
At the ort side of the floor plate is a large lex
coworking area for social activities such as
drinking coffe, sofa area and eigh table bar for
casual conversation.

LINING FLAGSHIP STORE
PDM international
Concept Design
2018

The Chinese sports brand Li-Ning
hhas launched a competition for the design of
its new flaships worldwide. The purpose of the
competition was to modernize the design of
commercial spaces, adapting but at the same time
reinterpreting the acompagnia brand.
PDM International has created a captivating and
dynamic design able to attract new generations to
reach this brand even on a global scale.

The project is divided into two types; a flagship
store consisting of two floors and another space
that can be replicated and standardized within
the context of the great Chinese shapping malls.
Industrial materials related to the urban street
concept were applied within the project. The red
color symbol for LINING plays an important role
by creating dynamic forms on the ground in the
ne ceiling that guide customers to different areas
of the store.
A bar, a multimedia space, a gym and a tech zone
are the key elements of this cutting-edge project.

The exploitation of the area is suggested to
follow 4 steps:

1-FIinancial Core
2-Resort
3-Forest Park & Residential
4-Logistic Harbor & Enterprise Headquater

First of all, establish the shopping district in
the joint of the main roads that allows a variety
of brands in to make an exclusive shopping
center in Beijing suburb and additionally in-
crease public attention. Then, build a series of
exposition grounds for various events, in order
to improve the popularity. After that, a unique
fashion area which absorb independent design
brand will settle down as a fashion hub for the
social media. At last, a fashion design school
can be set up based on previous facilities and
resources, therefore cultivate relevant talents.

GUGGENHEIM HELSINKI

Concept Design
2014

Located in the South Harbor of Helsinki, the
project takes advantage of the city’s con-
text. By revealing the relations between the
sea and the city, the history and the pres-
ent, the art and the technology, the museum
finds its symbolic aspect within the harmo-
nized dialogues of all, under a unique and
outstanding shape of a wooden ark giving
its landmark status.
The organic wooden envelope facing the
sea contrasting with the dynamic urban
copper facade, show the dialogue of two
expressive sides that interact with its envi-
ronment. The Sea and the City set a cultural
background that Helsinki has always had,
as “Form must have a content, and that
content must be linked with nature” and the
Ark of Art gives a continuity to it, as “Archi-
tecture belongs to culture, not to civiliza-
tion”, quoting Alvar Aalto.

Chongqing 2014

The project is located in the countryside
area of Chongqing city.
The area of the project is extended on a
beautiful rice fields terraces in the middle of
the mountains. The client asks us to realize
a rose garden for people who want to enjoy
the nature and have wedding ceremonies
in an enjoyable and peaceful environment.
Other functions like a ticket office, toilets
and a storage for the maintenance of the
garden are provided. The main concept of
the project is shaped by the mythological
bird of the phoenix with its large wings and
its tail are branched to define the various
paths garden reclining on the terraces and
changing altitude creating rest areas where
people can admire the panorama and hav-
ing a stop in the middle of nature. These
pathways also are topped by a lightweight
structure made of steel bars Korten that
intersecting each other allow the climb-
ing roses to grow creating shade area and
colorful corridors.

Imagine an intelligent surface, capable of
reacting in real time to impulses it receives
from outside. The project appears to be a
research project into a computer’s ability to
defrom “elastic” architecture in real time in
response to any input. This idea is intended
to be an example of architecture that phys-
ically reacts to stimuli: sounds, people’s
movements and nature. The “dream” is
implemented through a complex system of
sensor that transmit information to acomput-
er that mathematical processes them in real
time provide a pathway, translating them
into fluid forms through a combination of
pneumatic pistons. The mechanical move-
ment of these pistons acts on a skin, which,
as well as generating a sinous movements,
creates fractures that can capture solar en-
ergy through a PV light system, depending
on the climatinc condition.

DACHANG OPERA THEATER
WVA architects
Concept Design
2015

Dachang, located 50 km to the east of Beijing is a
second round competition for the realization of
an opera house and a library .
The building is the cultural point of Dachang
area facing a public square and able to host many
functions related with the surrounding commu-
nity. It features a grand theater that can host over
300 seats and on the upper level there are dormi-
tory for the musicians, office and practice room
to study music.
The library and archive are developed on three
floors.
The lectures rooms, illuminated by the contin-
uous skylight, starting from the second floor
stepping up until reach the last floor .
The architecture is inspired by local identity, cul-
ture and art trying to escape from the research
of an iconic building inspired only by western
aesthetic canons. We rather persuaded to find
the typologies that would adjust the most easily
to the lifestyle and practices of local inhabitants.

SHENZHEN MUSEUM LIBRARY
WVA architects
Concept Design
2015

This was a competition for a new museum of
modern art and a library in new cultural center
in Baoan Qu, a district of Shenzhen, China.
The competition required two separate and
reconizable buildings; a library with adjoining
archive and a museum of ‘modern art.
The two separate buildings also had to be con-
nected by a public plaza able to attracts people
and host various cultural events related to art
and literature.
For the Library the program is organized around
a series of patios that breaking the main volume
creating natural light and cross ventilation for
the reading areas. The main material used for the
exterior facade of the library is the timber wood
brisoleil so you can control the direct light form
outside .
The museum is the rappresentation of the rock
so we play more with solid material trying to
close the volume within the exterior but at the
same time allowing the natural light to comes
from outside using the skylight rooftop.
The final result is an oasis of quietness and re-
flection where people can escape and shelter
from the frenetic streets of Shenzhen.

“The design concept adopted is a pulsating vein.
The organic red-coloured shape, volume contrac-
tions and expansions, where the café and bicycle-re-
pair are inserted, makes the structure alive and
dynamic, generating a feeling of continuous flow of
culture from the Hermitage.
Dealing with a bridge for cyclists and pedestrians,
two different solutions to connect the bridge to the
bank have been designed: a non-symmetrical solu-
tion is presented and, on the riverside opposite to
the museum, a fork is obtained.
The minimum inclination and the curved profile
between the two banks allows a total accessibility
for any category of users without need of eleva-
tors. According to regulations for traffic passage on
Amstel, the longitudinal profile creates a waterway
which guarantees the passage for any kind of boats,
having for a width of 5 m a minimum height of 2,6
m. The use of alternative energies has been treat-
ed with great care. Some piezoelectric devices are
mounted on the bridge floor and they can generate
light if trampled. Also an hydroelectric system is
installed in the pylon, using a submerged turbine
which works thanks to the river flow.
