SECTOR INTEREST NEWS 100% of the auction resources from Paraná highways will be invested in the state The Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, decided with parlia- mentarians from the federal bench of Paraná a change in the concession proj- ect of more than 3,000 kilometers of highways: 100% of the resources raised in the auction will be applied in the state itself. That means that any tie-breaking value will be used entirely on the highway itself, for the benefit of the user. More than R$ 42 billion in investments are expected in more than 3 thousand kilo- meters of federal and state highways, which will transform the agribusiness of Paraná and make the state even more competitive. In addition, another R$ 34 billion will be allocated to the provide maintenance and service to end-users. Click here to learn more EPL starts studies for concession of more than 4 thousand kilometers of federal highways The Federal Government started structuring the concession of more than 4 thousand kilometers of federal highways located in eight states. The govern- ment aims to transfer the roads to the private sector by the end of 2022. The technical, economic and environmental feasibility studies were commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure to the Planning and Logistics Company (EPL) and involve the collection of traffic information, demand, operation, engineer- ing, economic-financial modelling and legal analysis. Click here to learn more Minister reveals high demand of investors interested in airport auctions Minister Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas said that at least 15 business groups have al- ready shown interest in the three airport blocks that are going to be auctioned in the first quarter of 2021, on April 7th, at the São Paulo Stock Exchange. In to- tal, 22 airports will be granted to the private sector: 9 from the Southern Block
including Foz do Iguaçu, Curitiba and Navegantes; 7 from the North Block, such as Manaus, Porto Velho and Boa Vista; and another 6 from the Central Block, with Goiânia, São Luís and Teresina. “We faced the biggest crisis in the airline industry in history during the pandemic and now we will have an auction that promises to be very competitive. I am very enthusiastic. We already have six groups interested in the South Block, four in the North Block and another 5 in the Central Block. We are offering excellent assets, and no one wants to be left out”, assessed the Minister. Click here to learn more “Ferrogrão and BR-163/PA concession are the solutions for access to the port of Miritituba”, said the Minister During a meeting with port operators and grain producers in the north and cen- tarl-west region, Minister Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas stressed that the perma- nent solution for the flow of production to the ports of Miritituba, in southwest Pará, is the concession of BR- 163/ PA and construction of Ferrogrão. “With the concession of the highway, we are able to an anticipate the necessary invest- ments as much as possible, so that the problems of queuing up trucks do not occur again,” explained the Minister. The public notice for the concession of BR-163/PA will be published in the first quarter and the auction is expected to take place by the end of the 1st semester. Click here to learn more ANTT holds virtual public hearing to discuss extension of FCA contract The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) held Public Hearing No. 012/2020 to gather suggestions for improving the studies relating to Concessionaire Fer- rovia Centro-Atlântica S/A (FCA) contract extension, as well as the draft of the respective additive term and annexes. The anticipated extension of the FCA contract was qualified in the Investment Partnership Program (PPI). Codesa’s privatization project is subject of Antaq’s public hearing The privatization project of Espírito Santo Dock Company (Codesa) was the subject of a public hearing promoted by the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) in February. More than 200 spectators participated in the au- dience, which was held virtually, with the objective of discussing the proposal for the concession of the ports of Vitória and Barra do Riacho. This was the first hearing on privatization of ports to be held in recent history in the port sector. The auction is expected to be held in 2021. Click here to learn more Federal government enables railways to receive a green seal from an international organization The Ministry of Infrastructure received from the Planning and Logistics Compa- ny (EPL), the process that allows for future concessionaires of the West-East Integration Railway (FIOL), the Mid-West Integration Railway (Fico) and Ferro- grão (EF) -170) to seek a “green seal”. The work serves as a prior assessment that the projects follow the parameters of the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), an international organization that certifies sustainable initiatives. Click here to learn more MInfra signs agreement with Apex-Brasil to attract foreign investments to the sector The Ministry of Infrastructure signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), which aims to promote Brazilian products and services abroad, and to attract foreign investments to the Brazilian economy. “Our goals are always to promote the Brazilian infrastructure and MInfra’s portfolio abroad. Apex-Brasil will provide a very important support, with its more than 10 offices abroad, strengthening the image of our projects, with focus on the market”, celebrated the Executive Secretary of MInfra, Marcelo Sampaio. MInfra presents its railway program to foreign investors The Executive Secretary of MInfra, Marcelo Sampaio, participated in the webi- nar “Cooperation in Railways”, promoted by the Embassy of India to present foreign portfolio projects, with a special focus on railways and efforts to make the infrastructure segment more efficient and competitive Brazilian market. “There will be more than 20 thousand kilometers of railways to be auctioned and more than R$ 63 billion in investments. Brazil has a consolidated base and a robust portfolio of assets to offer to the investors. We will guarantee the con- struction of a better country”, said the Secretary. Click here to learn more SPA conducts public consultation on internal railway of the Port of Santos Santos Port Authority (SPA) concluded the public consultation on the new ex- ploration model for the Internal Railway of the Port of Santos (FIPS), a rail sys- tem that integrates the port infrastructure. With total capacity for 50 million tonnes, the port’s internal railway currently handles approximately 45 million tonnes. The Port’s Development and Zoning Plan (PDZ) foresees an increase of 91% in railway movement by 2040, to 86 million tons per year.
