Uganda is recognized as one of the safest destinations in Africa. Here you’ll find the best the continent has to offer and with fewer visitors than in longer-established East African destinations. Uganda’s ten national parks contain a fabulous variety of habitats, ranging from snow-capped mountain peaks and vast papyrus swamps, to dark tropical forests and open savannah plains. These diverse settings are home to an impressive range of wildlife including over 1,000 species of bird, with many central African species at the eastern limit of their ranges. Mammals include numerous forest primates, among them chimpanzee and the endangered mountain gorilla, while big game animals are to be found in the savannah parks. With a tapestry of verdant green landscapes, abundant wildlife and sparkling lakes, Uganda packs a lot into one small country. It is home to Africa’s tallest mountain range (the Rwenzoris), the source of the Nile, the world’s longest river, and the continent’s largest lake (Lake Victoria). Uganda’s most iconic experience, and one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife experiences, is undoubtedly tracking endangered mountain gorillas in their misty habitat – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. 6 7

The northern section of the park contains savannah and borassus palms, acacia trees and riverine woodland, whilst the south is dominated by woodland and forest patches.
