ISSUE 3 - JUNE 2019 TULIP TALKS Parkinson's Auckland's Local Newsletter Living Positively with Parkinson's Robyn Cotton was recently voted onto the Parkinson's New Zealand board. She is also a member of a new Action Group committee for the Rodney and North Shore area. "I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s Disease two and a half years ago, although I had the tremor for some years before that. I have suffered poor gut health throughout Robyn Cotton my adult life, and I suspect this is related to PD. I’ve always been a Parkinson's positive person and have believed in finding the good in bad and Action Groups turning negatives into positives. I approach my PD in the same way. Golf Day Success @ Wainui The second annual Play for Parkinson's Golf Day sponsored by Summerset Villages was held at the Wainui Golf Club in March raising $11,700. Our sincere thanks to the Wainui Golf Club who donated the Golf Day Fundraiser Success course and staff. This year we had an Electric Bike for the first Hole in One on the 3rd, sponsored by Peter Hill and his team at 100% Electrical in Albany. This event was managed by Ann Cambie and we cannot thank her enough for the huge amount of time and energy put into this wonderful community event. Professionally and d ly r personally it was a valuable experience I will never forget. Anakiwa is paradise itself and seeing r e n e w e m in d e r t you r o twelve amazing people graduate from what was a truly magical week of personal challenge, I found mem an n u b e r sh al uplifting. If you are thinking of doing Upbeat Outward Bound, don't think any longer, the 2020 0800 ip c a l 473 4 l course is just around the bend, so just do it! It has been a pleasure working alongside the central 636 Auckland Action Group and the new North Shore and Rodney Action Group. We are now looking at new committees in the East and West of Auckland, and are planning various initiatives in the region to help with fundraising and awareness. It's all go.
