every day! Start with these!
                                 marks the beginning of
                                 Hurricane Season. The
                                 Village has been fortunate
                                 to avoid most of the
                                 major storms in the past,
but we do not want to let

Hurricane Preparedness material that we give out annually to

major storm. Now is the time to get your Hurricane Kits together
and evacuation plans finalized. Remember, all manufactured/
mobile homes are in Evacuation Zone A - the first zone to be
evacuated. This will affect the majority of the Village. In
addition, please remember that the Brooksville Wesleyan Church
is NOT an official shelter and should be used only as a last resort.

Let’s pray for a peaceful season, but let’s also be prepared!

From the Office of the President

                            Dear Friends,

Most, if not all, of the seasonal residents have returned home.
They will be greatly missed, but we look forward to their arrival
next winter. Now, we settle down for a Florida Summer. As many
of you know, I will be stepping down from the Presidency on June
30, 2021, which is a year sooner than planned. I have enjoyed my
five years of service and ministry as the President of Wesleyan
Village. My support for the Wesleyan Village will continue
unabated. Connie and I have made so many new friends, and we have reconnected with
friends from past years. I have been blessed to work with wonderful staff members and good
board members.

So many of you have blessed and enriched our lives, and I trust Connie and I have blessed and
enriched your lives. The Wesleyan Village is a great place to live. I said that from day one as
your new President in July 2016, and I echo that same sentiment as I leave. “The Wesleyan
Village is a great place to live.” Connie and I have a peace and believe that God is directing
our lives at this time, TO GOD BE THE GLORY.

BE SAFE

May God bless and keep you.

Don Maness, President

terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever
you go.”

TUESDAY UPDATE - Wesleyan Village
Wesleyan Village Hurricane Information
The Wesleyan Village is preparing for hurricane season which technically runs from June
through November. We have a responsibility to be as prepared as possible. YOU also bear a
responsibility to be prepared in the event of a hurricane. If you are instructed by local officials
(County or State) to evacuate, please follow their warnings.

        WESLEYAN VILLAGE EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES
The following procedures will be used in case of emergencies, such as hurricane or other severe
 weather situations.

  I. MANDATORY EVACUATION
        A. All mobile units, RV’s, and prefab units are to evacuate to shelters.
        B. In the case of a mandatory evacuation notice issued for ALL residents by local
authorities, follow the directions given by the authorities on TV or radio regarding
evacuation procedures and the route you are to take. Highway 50 (Cortez Blvd.) east
           is an official evacuation route.
 II. BROOKSVILLE WESLEYAN CHURCH
BROOKSVILLE WESLEYAN CHURCH IS AVAILABLE ONLY AS A VOLUNTARY
SHELTER OF LAST RESORT. Although, the Brooksville Wesleyan Church is not
a Red Cross approved storm shelter, Wesleyan Village Residents without safer
options for hurricane shelter are welcome (see pg. 4). We are thankful for the
        assistance and cooperation from BWC.
III. NOTIFICATIONS
Our PHONEVITE SYSTEM will be used to contact residents by telephone to inform
        them of the hurricane status

Before leaving your home to seek shelter, check with your
neighbors nearby to be sure they have received the
warning and are preparing to seek shelter.

                                                                                            1|Page

IV. ASSISTANCE
In case of severe weather warning or mandated evacuation and if you do not have
transportation, make arrangement to leave Wesleyan Village with a friend. If you are
unable to arrange transportation or need assistance, contact the Wesleyan Village office
at 352-799-1644 (see page 2 for additional emergency numbers). In no case should
you remain in your home under mandatory evacuation conditions. (See Evacuating Your
       Home below.)

       WASTE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM (WWTS)

Wesleyan Village has generators for the operation of our Waste Water Treatment System
(WWTS) in the event the Wesleyan Village loses electrical power. One generator will
operate the WWTS and the Mow Barn Lift Station. A second generator at the Langport
Pond will operate this Lift Station, and the third generator will operate the Epworth Lift
       Station.
 V. EVACUATING YOUR HOME
In the event that you decide to leave your home, even if it is to the home of someone in
Wesleyan Village or close by, please notify the office at 352-799-1644 to let us know
where you will be staying during the storm. This will help us know how to find you if the
       storm causes damage.

VI. AFTERMATH
After a severe storm, our maintenance crew will be activated to make sure the roads are
safe for travel and to check for downed power lines. If the power remains off, the
Brooksville Wesleyan Church will be open until power can be restored to homes.

TUESDAY UPDATE - Wesleyan Village
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FROM THE BROOKSVILLE
WESLEYAN CHURCH
HURRICANE SHELTER ANNOUNCEMENT
Hurricane season (June-November) is near and it is time to review your personal plans and
preparations in advance of any major storms forecasted to impact our area. BROOKSVILLE
WESLEYAN CHURCH IS AVAILABLE ONLY AS A VOLUNTARY SHELTER OF LAST
RESORT. Please note the following important details.
1. It is vitally important that you pay attention to and heed all official storm advisories and
warnings. Evacuate if ordered by local authorities and think now about where you would go for
safer shelter. See the list below of Red Cross approved storm shelters in Hernando
County. If your home is not secure, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU SEEK SHELTER
IN A LOCATION THAT IS EQUIPPED TO PROVIDE FULL EMERGENCY SERVICES —
including power, medical assistance, law enforcement security, water, food, and sanitation. As
a Christ-follower, make it an opportunity to help, encourage, pray for, and witness to others.
2. Brooksville Wesleyan is not a Red Cross approved storm shelter for mass care. However,
for church members, friends and neighbors without safer alternatives for shelter, our
church doors will open as a voluntary emergency shelter. We will not be equipped with
pre-positioned water, food, medical supplies, or other long-term emergency resources. Our
building, however, is rated for high wind loads, making it safer than a mobile home, RV, or
vulnerable residence. Accommodations will be in the church sanctuary and music room
areas. Those who come STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK and we want you to be aware of
limitations and concerns such as:

   • With coronavirus pandemic concerns, social distancing will be difficult to maintain over an
extended period. No accommodations are available for isolating or treating persons who
may be or become ill. Therefore, shelter cannot be provided for anyone with a fever
or other common symptoms of possible infection or who know they were recently
       exposed to potential infection.
   • You must park vehicles and use the glass entry doors on the north/Wesleyan
Village side of the building only. No parking in the front parking lot nearest Cortez or
on the west/music room side of the building to keep these areas clear for emergency
vehicles. For security purposes, no building access will be allowed through the metal
doors on the north, south or west sides of the building.
   • We have limited emergency generator capacity and it will be used primarily for
security lighting for safe occupancy of indoor areas in the event of electric utility
outages. Loss of utilities will make building air conditioning impossible. Emergency
refrigeration will be available only for storage of life-saving medications, such as insulin.
   • We cannot guarantee power for emergency medical equipment (oxygen machines,
       CPAP, personal mobility devices, etc.).
   • We cannot guarantee the services of emergency medical personnel on-site during
       the storm or its aftermath.
   • Long-term power outage of more than six hours or serious flooding in our area could
create sanitation system issues for our building since we are connected to a private

sewer system reliant on its own auxiliary power for pumps. Portable toilets will be
         available in such an event.
    • We have no food storage or preparation facilities in the building. You should plan to
bring your own supply of bottled water and non-perishable foods.
    • Small pets must be kept in pet carriers or cages and must remain in designated tiled
areas at all times. No exceptions.
    • No unauthorized weapons of any kind are allowed on church premises (guns,
knives, mace/pepper spray, etc.). Licensed concealed carry personnel must leave
weapons at home or secured and locked in their vehicle if parked at the church.
    • The church assumes no responsibility for the loss or theft of cash or valuables
brought on the premises by those seeking shelter. A safe room is available, but checked
items may be stored there only at your own risk.
    • The church will have on hand a limited number of battery-powered and hand-crank
         radios for emergency information use.
    • After the storm, you should rely on word from law enforcement or emergency
management officials regarding when it is safe to travel about the community and return
home. Remember the danger of downed power lines, flooded roads and streets, and
         dangerous trees and limbs.

3. If you do seek temporary shelter in the church building, think about bringing:

    • Essential medications and first aid items (we cannot guarantee refrigeration for insulin or
         other medications)
    • Telephone (fully charged and with your power cord)
    • Non-perishable food (enough for several days)
    • Water (one gallon per person per day)
    • Bedding (blankets, pillows, exercise pad, air mattress)
    • Flashlight and batteries
    • Entertainment (games, books, iPad, music player with earphones, etc.)
    • Toiletries, hygiene items, moisture wipes, dry shampoo
    • Personal ID, cash, essential papers you need to keep with you

4. After the storm passes, we will be available to serve as a storm recovery and aid
distribution location or as a back-up site to handle overflow from local approved shelters
struggling to accommodate storm evacuees as requested by local emergency management
authorities.
