TTF Transport Advocacy Win Pop-up Cahill Expressway High Line The 2021 NSW Budget included $15 million for a Cahill High Line to temporarily transform the Cahill Expressway into a contemporary people- friendly landscape leading into the 2022 Sydney Festival. TTF has advocated for this kind of adaptive use of the Expressway for many years, including at TTF’s Placemaking Series, at the 2021 Sydney CBD Summit, and in our collaborative ‘Fab Fridays’ pre-Budget proposal for CBD Activation. TTF also advocated for Melbourne CBD activation initiatives, backing the FOMO Fridays campaign led by the City of Melbourne. 3.

TTF Transport Research Focus FY21-22 TTF’s Transport Research will focus on the following topics: Transport focus 1. Franchising of public 2. Decarbonisation of transport services public transport Whole of TTF 4. Consumer sentiment – 3. Infrastructure Industry Skills multiple pieces These focus areas have been discussed at TTF Transport Policy Panels and whole of TTF forums and #2 is on the agenda at the July 2021 Panel. 6.
Workshops ‘Transport Connections’ Roundtables Series TTF has proposed a series of roundtable-style workshops called ‘Transport Connections’ The proposal for these is on the agenda at the July 2021 Transport Policy Panel. 7.
Transport Policy Panel The Transport Policy Panel is a key TTF policy forum and meets three times per year. The Panel last met on 31 March 2021. The Panel was chaired by Dr Simon Barrett, Senior Partner & Chairman – L.E.K. Consulting The Panel was attended by senior TTF Transport & Infrastructure members. The Panel discussed: - Franchising of public transport research - Areas of interest for upcoming research including decarbonisation, getting people back in to cities (CBD activation) and active transport - TTF consumer research by MI Associates Follow-up to Panel in progress – see next slide 8.
Transport Policy Panel Follow-Up Panel follow-up: Increased TTF focus on CBD activation advocacy including Sydney Fab Fridays pre-budget submission, support for Melbourne FOMO Fridays and deployment of research in media, and policy submission on active transport submitted. Requested transport patronage data from VIC, NSW, QLD transport departments. Member follow-up: Discussion with members about budget submissions and CBD activation issues and more. Events - Friends of Transport Following disruption of TTF’s events program due to Covid-19, TTF will commence a bi-partisan TTF Parliamentary Friends of Transport program with the first event to take place with Minister Andrew Constance on 17 November 2021 at NSW Parliament. Staged as a cocktail style function, the series aims to highlight the importance of our sector to the economy, promote transport investment and provide the sector with the opportunity to engage with key government stakeholders. Sponsorship for Nov 2021 event likely from Transdev – funds already received. Programming of subsequent events will prioritise Federal Parliament, QLD and VIC. 11.
Events – Leadership 2021 The Leadership Summit, now in its 20th year is TTF’s flagship event, designed to facilitate dialogue between political leaders, policy makers and the leaders of TTF’s member organisations from the tourism, aviation and transport industries. As we head towards the Federal Election, this event will be integral to championing advocacy for the transport sector as we navigate our way out of Covid-19 and into the next term of government. This year’s event will be held in Sydney in November and will include issues relevant to the transport sector. 12.
Events - Australia Futures Forum In 2021, TTF proposes to deliver the Australian Transport Futures Forum, a half-day transport policy event in Sydney. This event is intended to bring together CEOs and senior executives from Australia’s leading transport operators, across the public and private sector to debate the key policy issues facing the industry and to hear about how innovation is and will continue to shape our future. 13.
Events - Australian Transport Summit TTF and UITPANZ are in discussion about co-hosting the next Australian Transport Summit. The 2020 event did not proceed due to disruption from Covid-19. The next Australian Transport Summit would not likely not be programmed until Q3-4 2021. The last Australian Transport Summit was held on 7 August 2019 at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney with the theme of “Real Mobility – Connecting People, Places, Spaces and was sponsored by Transport for NSW, Keolis Downer, L.E.K. Consulting, Via, Hilton, Brightr, Cubic and NetBI. 14.
