Director’s Message The Indiana IEP Resource Center (IEPRC) offers an array of services to assist Indiana schools by providing resources, professional learning, and technical assistance. The IEPRC collaborates with the Indiana Department of Education, Office of Special Education to support best practices to improve outcomes for students with disabilities and to promote a belief in shared responsibility and equitable access benefitting all students. The IEPRC is a trusted choice for professional learning. Our training schedule offers a robust listing of workshops delivered in a variety of locations and presented at no cost to you. Browse this catalog for an overview of our scheduled workshop options or request a workshop at your site. This year we are offering three new topics: Inclusive Practices: Establishing a Supportive School Culture for All Learners, Developing Behavior Intervention Plans Work Session, and Educational Diagnostician Work Session. We have made every attempt to offer you the most timely and critical information to better serve the needs of students and look forward to seeing you at future events. Indiana IEP System Indiana IEP Walkthrough This session is perfect for all levels of Indiana IEP (IIEP) users. New users will see and work with the system alongside our IIEP consultant. Veteran users of the system also benefit as updates and changes to the IIEP system are explained and demonstrated live. Both groups will have ample time to work with the system and address questions or concerns throughout the workshop. Indiana IEP System Advanced Reporting: The Basics of Reporting and Data Collection The Advanced Reporting system built into IIEP can truly unlock the potential of our state’s IEP system. Every field completed in the Indiana IEP is available to create custom reports that fit your district’s unique needs. The system can be used to develop anything from quick probes for specific data to extensive student or district reports. This workshop addresses the needs of both beginners and intermediate users of the system. IEP Process Developing Behavior Intervention Plans This session will provide an overview of the process for developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Session content includes: planning for the functional behavior assessment, team analysis of the functional behavior assessment data, developing behavioral interventions and supports, progress monitoring for effectiveness of the behavior plan, and documenting the plan for behavioral intervention in the Indiana IEP system. IEP Process Developing Behavior Intervention Plans Work Session This session is an open forum for participants with specific questions or issues their school teams have encountered in developing a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIPs). The workshop atmosphere allows participants to interact directly with consultants and other practitioners in a virtual setting. REQUIREMENT: Pre-session planning, please come prepared with questions on developing a behavior plan. OPTIONAL: It is recommended to attend a Developing Behavior Intervention Plans workshop prior to participating in this work session. IEP Process Writing Skill-Based Annual Goals Measurable goals are the backbone of an effective Individualized Education Program (IEP). This session is an in-depth look at the process behind developing and implementing skill-based goals. Participants will learn the goal writing process, align goals to academic standards, and develop progress monitoring methods to mark student progress on goals. Improve Local Practices Addressing the Needs of All Students Using Multi-Tiered System of Support Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a comprehensive framework providing structures and procedures that promote the success of each and every student. This session will address the essential elements of MTSS as well as resources to support implementation in order to promote the academic, behavioral, and social emotional success of all students. Improve Local Practices Designing Instruction to Support All Learners Defining and understanding Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) are essential in providing high quality educational services and supports for all learners. Improve Local Practices Creating Positive and Effective Case Conference Committee Meetings This workshop will discuss common issues experienced with case conference committee meetings. Specific strategies will be presented to promote positive communication and a spirit of collaborative problem solving to develop a mutually agreed upon Individualized Education Program (IEP). Improve Local Practices Expanding Inclusive Services: Providing Speech/Language and Related Services in the General Education Classroom This workshop will address the rationale for increasing inclusive services for the delivery of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) by special education providers as well as related service providers. This session will address potential barriers and solutions in establishing an inclusive culture. Improve Local Practices Educational Diagnostician Work Session This session will be available to participants who have specific questions or issues that center around the role of the Educational Diagnostician. This may include specific test administration and scoring questions, report writing, conducting observations, developing useful recommendations, or other issues. This session will allow participants to work with IEPRC consultants, as well as opportunities for professional networking with other Educational Diagnosticians in a face to face or virtual setting. Virtual Office Hours Join us monthly for Virtual Office Hours (VOH)! IIEP System VOH Each session will feature IIEP updates, IIEP development plans, and answers to questions from participants. In addition, IIEP consultants and experts will join the group to discuss topics such as writing measurable goals, co-teaching, data analysis, educational evaluations, and more! AUDIENCE: General Education Teachers, Special Education Teachers, District Administrators, School Administrators, Special Education Administrators, IIEP Users WHEN: Second Wednesday of every month from August to May at 11:30am - 12:30pm (Eastern time). Educational Diagnostician VOH Attend these sessions to ask specific questions or address issues that center around the role of the Educational Diagnostician. This may include specific test administration and scoring questions, report writing, conducting observations, developing useful recommendations, or other issues. AUDIENCE: Related Service Providers, Speech Language Pathologists, Special Education Administrators, School Psychologists, Educational Diagnosticians WHEN: Last Thursday of every month from July to May (excluding December and February) from 11:30am - 12:30pm (Eastern time). IEPRC technical assistance and professional development opportunities are delivered to LEAs and educators through Part B federal funds distributed by IDOE (Statutory Code 34 CFR §300.704) to Indiana State University (ISU). Statewide Conferences Indiana Special Education Law Conference The Special Education Law Conference will be held on August 24-25, 2021 at the Sheraton at Keystone on the northside of Indianapolis. Join us for Indiana’s statewide conference on special education law for general educators, special educators, and administrators. Statewide Conferences New Educator Institute Join the Indiana IEP Resource Center, the Indiana Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children and the Indiana Department of Education: Office of Special Education for our second New Educator Institute. This professional learning opportunity is designed to provide information on what new educators need to know about special education law and processes and instructional best practices for the inclusive classroom. Educators will acquire knowledge and practical strategies to comply with regulations, engage learners, and promote positive student behavior. In addition to pertinent content, built-in networking opportunities offer support to new educators throughout the school year. Statewide Conferences Focus on Inclusion Week Focus on Inclusion is going virtual! Administrators and educators have been working endlessly to provide the best for Indiana students. To show our appreciation the Indiana IEP Resource Center is providing a week of professional learning for FREE! Focus on Inclusion will take place from February 1-5, 2021. Each day, with the exception of Friday, we will offer three sessions. Feel free to join us for all or select the topics and times that work best within your busy schedule. If you are unable to view the live sessions, the recordings will be available to registrants up to two weeks following the event. Summer Institute Your Students, My Students, Our Students: Rethinking Equitable and Inclusive Classrooms Lee Ann Jung will lead the 2-day workshop to guide interdisciplinary teams to elevate skills and understanding in the following areas: · Understanding the research on inclusion, including roles of special educators, general educators, and paraprofessionals · Use of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in unit and lesson planning · Understanding a system of least support and how to use this to guide co-teaching, consultation, and coaching in a way that builds capacity of all faculty PRESENTER: Lee Ann Jung, Ph.D. AUDIENCE: District and/or Building Interdisiplinary Teams COST: The Summer Institute is provided at no cost to accepted applicants.
