The performance closes with the last symphonic composition of Mozart’s illustrious career, the giant and grand Jupiter Symphony. Audiences will learn about instruments, rhythm, and some of the most famous themes ever written. Welltower Mozart in the Afternoon Series Moz-Art à la Haydn JANUARY 19, 2019, 2 PM | VALENTINE THEATRE Anja Bihlmaier, conductor Kirk Toth and Téa Prokes, violin HAYDN Symphony No. 85 in B-Flat Major “La Reine” SCHNITTKE Moz-Art à la Haydn for Two Violins and Orchestra MOZART Symphony No. 36 in C Major “Linz” Witty and inviting, Moz-Art à la Haydn connects two of the greatest composers of the Classical Era: Franz Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Based on surviving fragments of Mozart’s lost “pantomime music”, with a special nod to one of Haydn’s most famous symphonies, this piece is sure to delight! We open with Haydn’s Symphony No. 85 “La Reine” or “The Queen” and conclude with Mozart’s dazzling Symphony No. 36, written in just four days on a trip to the Austrian city of Linz.

We pair Grieg’s romantic Piano Concerto with Tchaikovsky’s gorgeously melodic and profoundly emotional Symphony No. 6. Don’t miss this program of incredible pathos and passion. SERVICE CHARGE A $6 service charge will be assessed for all purchases (per order, not per ticket). This includes all subscriptions and orders made over the phone, at the Box Office, and the day of the performance. Additional charges may apply online. EXCHANGES Ticket exchanges with some restrictions can be made by call- ing the Box Office at 419.246.8000. Subscribers receive free ticket exchanges. Non-subscribers will be assessed the $6 service charge for ticket exchanges (per order, not per ticket). The TSO reserves the right to limit exchanges into any perfor- mance based upon availability. In appreciation of their gener- ous gifts, exchanges and service fees will not be applied to Conductor’s Circle members and above.
