Welcome The Tokyo Talent Tour - Goodwill visit to Setagaya was formed out of the Sister City relationship with Setagaya which was signed in 1992 by Bunbury Mayor Ernest Manea and Setagaya Mayor Oba. This tour has been running every year since and is the opportunity of a lifetime for students and adults. The tour runs during the September school holidays and is led by a City of Bunbury employee dedicated to the success of the tour. Up to 16 students (year 6 and 7 ) and 4 accompanying adults will be accepted into the program. Some of the many experiences include: meeting the Mayor of Setagaya, visiting Hakone and viewing Mt Fuji, homestay with a Japanese family, and Tokyo Disneyland. The homestay experience is unforgettable and something you would not experience on a family holiday. You will meet and stay with a Japanese family and enjoy traditional Japanese culture. Many past students still maintain contact with their homestay families, developing friendships that last a lifetime. If you are a year 6 or 7 student in 2020 and excited to learn about Japan and share your love of Bunbury and Australia with new friends in Japan then we invite you to apply to be a part of an exciting life changing experience.
Details This year’s visit will take place from Sunday 27 September to Friday 9 October 2020. Approximate costs are $3,600 per person, which covers all expenses including: flights, accommodation, meals, entry fees and spending money. Gifts for your host family will need to be created or bought yourself. Should you wish to apply to be a part of this year’s visit, please complete the downloadable application, save it to your desktop and email it to cmcdowall@bunbury.wa.gov.au You will then need to make a $650 deposit to the City of Bunbury, 4 Stephen Street, Bunbury. Should you have any queries or would like to receive an application form, please contact Carol McDowall – Senior International Engagement Officer on 9792 7075 or cmcdowall@bunbury.wa.gov.au
Homestay Homestay is one of the highlights of the Tokyo Talent Tour, where all students and accompanying adults will live with a Japanese family for approximately 3 nights and enjoy traditional Japanese culture. Many past students maintain contact with their homestay families, developing friendships that last a lifetime. Testimonial “Danielle and I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the City of Bunbury for their continued support, assistance and vision in offering the young people in the community the chance to visit the sister city of Setagaya. John continues to talk about Setagaya and I am sure in years to come it will prove to have been a life changing experience. Thank you Carol, Sheridan and Kylie for all the work you have put in to make the tour such a success.” Regards Alan and Danielle Cochrane
