It wasn’t long before she began tutoring freshman and other underclassmen struggling with chemistry, biology or math in the Academic Enrichment Center. PAL 50-YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN 2020 BECOME ADVANCED PROGRAM FOR ADVANCEMENT OF LEARNING We are incredibly proud of PAL, our internationally recognized Program for Advancement of Learning, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! Recognized as the country’s first program of its kind, celebrating a longstanding tradition of success, PAL provides academically focused assistance to bright, college-able students with specific language-based learning disabilities, executive function disorders, and/or AD/HD. PAL students represent about 20% of each entering class. KYLE PEREIRA ’21 ATHLETICS VISIT CURRYATHLETICS.COM BECOME MAJOR: NURSING MINOR: BIOLOGY The opportunity to study nursing and play competitive collegiate football at Curry was “too good to be true” for Kyle Pereira. The beautiful campus and tight-knit community reminded him of his small hometown in Norton and he knew immediately it was the place he would call home. From his fellow teammates and coaches A COLONEL to his faculty mentors in the School of Nursing who inspired his interest in pediatric nursing, Kyle’s “second family” at Curry has motivated him to pursue excellence in all aspects of his life. Outside of his football career and work as a clinical care technician at Tufts Medical Center, he is President of Curry’s Men in Nursing Club, and active member of the Student Nurse Club and Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Besides learning how to speak Portuguese fluently, Kyle aspires to work as a pediatric intensive care nurse and to become licensed as a paramedic to also work part-time at a local fire department. When she started at Curry, she wasn’t even sure what “it” was, but during her junior year, she interned at FOX25 after a conversation with a representative at a booth at the Student Center. Almost right away, she was assigned to shadow Elizabeth Hopkins in the field. She was nervous at first, CONNECTED but was well prepared by the resources available to her as a Curry student. After graduation, Courtney completed her Master’s Degree in Reporting in Public Affairs at American University, where she focused on Broadcast Journalism. She is currently working as the WFIRST Social Media and Outreach Coordinator and Video Producer at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. “Since working at NASA, I have found a Curry is where you discover your career passion.
