Equity and Diversity Ensuring Equity: Roosevelt is committed to ensuring equity for all students. We are working as a family to educate ourselves on content that will help us to keep this commitment to our students, community and colleagues. Here are some of the resources we are working through. We encourage you to grow and learn with us: • Ensuring Equity for All Students https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjrFnmeGtL8 • Equity vs Equality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCS7Rus4_-Y Diversity Sensitivity Reminders: Equal and equitable treatment of people irrespective of color of their skin, gender, age, sexual orientation is critical to the continuous achievement and growth of our nation. We are cognizant that we need to be aware of our own biases whether conscious or subconscious. This helps us to ensure that we are addressing the needs of our students, colleagues, and community without partiality. Impartiality is a conscious effort until it becomes second nature. We will continue to work together to ensure that we stay sensitive to our diverse population both in house and throughout of community. Here are a few resources that can assist in this journey. • Stay up to date on matters that have impacted people of color. o The Science of Equality in Education (PDF-Perception Institute) o We Are All Different-and THAT’S AWESOME ▪ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQuM5e0QGLg o A Conversation with White People on Race ▪ https://www.nytimes.com/video/opinion/100000003773643/a-conversation-with-white-people-on-race.html o Respecting Differences Between People ▪ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qtpmi4yzSs o What Makes Us Different ▪ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WKlaMJaE0g o The Science of Racism-Creators for Change ▪ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBWImda1Zig
