1 1The Beethoven National Piano Competition 2021 Announcement of The S.E.Asean Piano Video Clip Competition Bangkok In honour of Beethoven's 250th Birthday Anniversary Dear Piano teachers and young pianists Conflicts haven't stopped because of COVID-19 We are facing difficult times due to the Coronavirus-19 pandemic which is a tremendous challenge for us. We like to challenge and invite you to participate in This Piano Competition to honour Beethoven's 250th Birthday Anniversary.. I have now developed an idea for educational video clips competition to call for young piano talents from S.E. Asean countries outside Thailand except participants in Thailand will have no privilege to participate in order to avoid unconcious bias and prejudice. I will have their national video clips competition within Thailand in March 27-28 2021 in live performance unless the vaccine is ready you are welcome. We couldn't be more pleased to see many ready participants who like to come and com- pete in the competition and also many parents who come along to offer their support. Teachers also play vital roles in your students' musical growth. We salute your efforts. Before this competition is taken place and go on we need to have a guarantee of 40 par- ticipants minimum to make possible. I await your reply confirmation along with number of participants by early January 2021 to make further actions I look forward to celebrating your artistry. 2 1The Beethoven National Piano Competition 2021 The Beethoven Piano Video Clip Competition 2021 being organized by D&M Music Studio of Arts is an outstanding opportunity for young pianists to participate in this worthwhile competitive event to celebrate the 250th Birthday anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the greatest composers of all time. The winners are determined by respected adjudicators who are distinguished pianists within Thailand. This S.E Asean competition is open to international participants or contestants outside Thailand to determine the talented pianists whose age is between 8-24 in three age groups catego- ries. A team of jury members will select the best performers in one round including : Dr. William R. James - Indiana State University B.Mus USA - University of Illinois M.Mus. USA - University of Miami.DMA USA Dr. Paulo Zereu - Institute of Arts Rio Grande do Sul State Univesith, Brazil. - The KrakowAcademy of Music ( Post graduate studies in Poland ). - In 1990 University of Music Karlsruhe Germany. - In 1994 Cologne University of Music, Wuppertal ( complete graduate studeies in Germany. - Chulalongkorn University Bangkok DFA ( Doctoral of Fine and Applied Arts ) Thailand. 3 The Beethoven National Piano Competition 2021 OBJECTIVES 1) We are seeking pianists who possess both highly picnistic skills and interpretative abilities of Beethoven music. 2) A pedagogical tool for piano students in the process of understanding the interpreta- tion of Beethoven's piano sonatas. Consistent with this purpose. WORTHWHILE EXPERIENCE All winners will be honoured to receive the followings : 1) All contestants of each category will receive Certificate of Appreciation. ( Gold Award after 1st place , 2nd place and 3rd place respectively and Silver Award after Gold ) 2) All respected winners for 1st place , 2nd place and 3rd place respectively will be awarded a Trophy for each group and Certificate of Achievement. 3) ALL CERTIFICATES WILL BE MAILED TO ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR HOME TOWN ADDRESS AS WELL AS WINNERS'S TROPHIES AGE GROUPS (Three age groups) Accomplished Pianists (ages 18-24) Emerging Pianists (ages 13-17) Young Pianists (ages 8-12) RULES AND ELIGIBILITY - All performances are expected to perform by memory from video clip recording. - Welcome international participants as well as overseas contestants of any nationalities outside Thailand who wish to participate by sending Video clip competition to participate regardless of gender, nationality or religion. - The adjudicators members of the Platform will decide on the winning entry. The results will be announced on March 20th 2021.
4 The Beethoven National Piano Competition 2021 REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT FOR GROUP A Age Group A 18-24 years of age. One Round only : Live video clip performance recording. Competitors prepare the compulsory piece from part 1 and one piece from part 2 1) Compulsory piece : L.van Beethoven "Bagatelles, Op.119 " 2) One complete Sonata by L. van Beethoven, with the exception of the following: - Op.2 No.1 - Op.10 No.1 and 2 - Op.13 - Op.14 No.1 and 2 - Op.79 REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT FOR GROUP B Age Group B 13-17 years of age. One Round only : Live video clip performance recording. Competitors prepare the compulsory piece from part 1 and one piece from part 2 1) Compulsory piece : - L.van Beethoven " Rondo a Capriccio in G major, " Rage Over a Lost Penny ", Op.129 4) 2) One complete Sonata by L.van Beethoven to be selected from : - Op.2 No.1 - Op.10 No.1 and 2 - Op.13 - Op.14 No.1 and 2 - Op.79 REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT FOR GROUP C Age Group C 8-12 years of age. One Round only : Live video clip performance recording. Competitors prepare the compulsory piece from part 1 and one piece from part 2 1) Compulsory piece : L.van Beethoven " Rondo in C Major, Op.51, No.1 " 2 ) One set of Variations by L.van Beethoven to be selected from : - 9 Variations in C minor on a March by Dressler, WoO 63 - 6 Variations on a Swiss Song in F Major, WoO 64 - 6 Variations in G Major on " Nel cor piu non mi sento". WoO 70 - 6 Variations in G Major, WoO 77
5 The Beethoven National Piano Competition 2021 ADJUDICATION 1) The adjudication panel will judge the performances under the set rules of the competition. 2)The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of all categories will be determined at the final. 3) A team of distinguished adjudicators will be judging in Bangkok and " this requires the unanimous approval of all academic adjudicator members " 4) The judging decision will be binding and final.
