Sequoia Woodturners General Meeting Final Minutes January 26, 2019 Fowler Library 306 South 7th Street, Fowler 10:00 am Call to Order: President Perry Coy called the meeting to order at 10:00 am Board Announcements: ♦ President’s Report – Perry Coy o Perry welcomed the members in attendance and announced that as the time available was limited for this meeting announce- ments would be kept to a minimum. o Perry reviewed the results of the Board election and introduced the new and returning board members. o The Club is still looking for a suitable trailer and members were asked to contact the Board if they found anything available that would suit the Club’s needs. o Perry announced that he had brought cane blanks and that Howard Atamian would be distributing them at break and after the meeting. Canes will need to be turned in at the May meeting at the latest. Canes will also be collected at the March meeting – any canes turned in at the March meeting to allow more time for assembly would be appreciated. o An informal poll was taken and about 1/3 of the members in attendance indicated that they were AAW members. ♦ Secretary’s Report – Craig Gough o All minutes are current up to the previous Board meeting. o Craig reminded all members at the meeting to sign in for show and tell and the Club challenge. o Craig reported that he is taking the newsletter over for the time being and asked members to consid- er volunteering to take over the newsletter or Secretary’s position. ♦ Treasurer’s Report – Jon Grace o Jon gave a quick summary of the Club’s funds and briefly reviewed the 2019 adopted budget. ♦ Membership Report – Jon Grace o Jon reminded members to pay their 2019 dues. ♦ Refreshments – Norm Gough o As Perry has taken on the President’s position, Norm Gough has taken over refreshments. o The refreshment fund is going well and continues to support itself through member donations. sequoiawoodturners.org 5
Demonstration: Celtic Knots – Stan Stephens ♦ Stan presented his techniques for incorporating Celtic knot patterns into wood turning such as handles, pens and rolling pins. Show and Tell ♦ Several Members brought items to show and discuss.
