We are very fortunate to be located in beautiful Sonoma County Wine Country and just north of San Francisco. Our responsibility is to enjoy, respect, and protect our environment. 4. Facilities Management Even the best quality facilities require maintenance and periodic refreshment. As part of our Long-Term Plan, we need to ensure that club leadership and membership is willing to update and upgrade facilities as necessary, and provide necessary finances to do so. 5. An environment of mutual respect It’s essential for all Clubs to foster a pleasant and friendly environment so that members and guests feel comfortable. This is the responsibility of club leadership, staff, and most importantly Membership, and the key attribute of effective club development. 6. Quality, Professional Staff All great clubs have a great staff. Without good course conditions (superintendent & crew) members may leave and new members will be hard to recruit. Without a good golf pro, that operations fails. Without good food & beverage staff members won’t eat. Without good athletic staff member retentions will suffer and attracting new members will be difficult. Clubs need good facilities but must also deliver outstanding personal service and a superior member experience. Staff should strive to personalize the service experience, it’s a key differentiator and a goal worth working toward. 7. Our volunteer Board club membership demands across the USA. While the exact of Directors has worked countless hours to shepherd the Club reasons for this have not been scientifically proven, I believe through very dark and trying times. I recall many early mornings with Adina Flores, Director of Communications, drafting the next round of emails, PowerPoint presentations, and collateral pieces that would be the new message to the Club. Adina has given from the heart since 2017, and it has been a pleasure to watch her grow over the years. Then there is Scott Butler, the first manager, after the fires that called me and simply stated, “What can I do?” All he wanted to do was serve our members and help rebuild Fountaingrove. He was standing tall, as we gathered as a management team and made our first trip to the Club, sneaking in past the guards at the Hidden Valley entrance. Caroline Wilcox, Athletic Center Operations Manager, was also there on the first days, with her smile and big hugs for our members and fellow associates. I will always remember the days when the front doors of the AC first opened, and the tears shared by Caroline and everyone she touched. It was moving, to say the least. In addition to these three dedicated managers, we need to reflect for a moment on Jesse Halstad, PGA, head golf professional, and all that he has learned, accomplished and seen during his last year and a half as our Head Pro. Jesse’s love for his family and dedication to our membership are the foundation for his desire to serve our members and give them the pristine golf experience they deserve. He is an COO Ron Banaszak (left) & Athletic innovator, bringing high touch and high tech to our members. Supervisor Scott Butler (right) While the food and beverage department has had literally dozens of new directions and demands in the last 2 years, our Executive Chef Patrick is up to the task of service and fiscal responsibility. He is a rare blend of leader, politician, accountant and therapist, and his food is amazing. We have also discovered a new talent for him and his daughters as they created some of the finest cooking instruction videos Troon has ever seen. And now, moving forward we have the newest additions to our team, Ricky Potts, membership director, is breaking records on how many new members we can possibly expose to our community. Without a clubhouse and limited facilities, he managed 65 new golf members and 110 Athletic Center members in 2019. Ricky has matured and grown into our family in a tremendous way. What he and the Membership & Marketing Committee have accomplished is nothing short of amazing. Andy Lindloff, golf course superintendent, is a true leader with a vision for our golf course and how it should be presented to the membership and he is on the right track to Executive Chef Patrick Tafoya (left) accomplish his goals of a manicured and extremely playable & COO Ron Banaszak (right) golf course.
