Augusta Ladies Temple Ladies Masonic Youth Auxiliary Auxiliary To All Mason-Nobles, Hello Alee Temple Nobles and Ladies! Potentate's Message What a GREAT Day to be an Alee Shriner! We hear it all the time but do you live it? It was evident recently at the Nobility Ball. Nobles and Ladies were coming together to celebrate Alee. Most dressed as an 80’s Icon, Rock band, and all the many ladies with lips on their shirt. I haven’t seen so much glitter, well, since the ’80s. The Aides Team were incredibly helpful and worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time, whether at Savannah Smiles, the 80’s night, the Ball, or the hospitality room. Our Divan has been so supportive by attending the events, dressing up, and making sure that not only Colleen and I had a memorable experience but that our guests did too. Memorable! The weekend goes down as one of the BEST, but the cherry on top absolutely HAD to be the decorations. We cannot thank the Ladies, and you know who you are, and their Nobles that went above, beyond, and to infinity for Alee and us. Thank you so much to all that bought a ticket, worked, and supported us. Now, on to another exciting event. We are celebrating the 125th year for Alee! As many know, Alee was organized in 1896. And we will have a great weekend of fun and fellowship, celebrating the accomplishments of Alee for 125 years. Event tickets are on sale, and if you purchase your ticket by July 12, you will be entered into a drawing on July 24. Ask Ill Sir Lester Claxton how it feels to win the Nobility Ball early bird drawing. In 125 years, Alee has had members of all walks of life. Alee Temple has been in many buildings in their 125 years, but those men and their ladies bring life to Alee. Their hard work has kept us going because we have a few things in common: Fun, Fellowship, Masonic Values, and our dedication to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Thank you for ALL that you do to continuing to Make Alee Great! First Lady Colleen’s Message We could have danced all night! Thanks to DJ Johnny and the Sassy Brass Band. The Nobility Ball was fantastic, amazing, and genuinely FABULOUS! Freddie and I were overwhelmed with support. The outfits for 80’s night were adorable and capturing the 80’s. The decorations for the entire weekend were THE BEST I have ever seen. They indeed rolled out the red carpet for our Nobility and guests. We shared the evening with our family and to have them in attendance was so memorable. As much FUN as this weekend was, I am looking forward to the 125th Celebration. I am working hard on my coffee table book. To see some of the Units and Clubs get into their Unit and Club history has been exciting. Imagine how hard it is to remember the last ten years of events and fellowship. Now imagine remembering the last 30 or more. I hope that this book keeps those memories alive for our next generation of Shriners and Ladies. Our t-shirts are HERE! And I love them. The sale of the t-shirts, charms, and books all benefit the First Lady’s Project. I am thrilled to contribute to Alee, a place I love and call my second home. The worthwhile projects that have been completed in previous years by the former First Lady’s have truly benefitted Alee: Audio, visual, lights, remodeled restrooms, office, etc. So many worthwhile improvements, and I am happy to join the club! Of course, NONE of these would be possible without our Nobles and Ladies. So thank you in advance. Thank YOU for ALL that you do to support Alee! Page 9

News from Shriners International & Shriners Hospitals for Children Cade’s Story Not many children can say they look forward to visiting the hospital, but 3-year-old Cade certainly can. Born without his left foot and part of his right leg, Cade became a patient at Shriners Children’s in Greenville shortly after birth — thanks to some unexpected encounters. “Within 15 minutes of finding out we were having a little boy, our doctor told us he had major limb deficiencies in both legs,” Cade’s mom, Ashley, recalled with tears in her eyes. Overwhelmed and scared, Ashley and her husband left that appointment wondering how they could possibly ensure their son would have a full life, despite what they’d just learned. Then, “a miracle” happened. “A few days later, three different Shriners found us and told us we had nothing to worry about,” Ashley said. There was a hospital that would take care of everything. Equipped with the specialized teams and resources needed to design, fit and manufacture orthotics and prosthetics for children of all ages, the Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services department (onsite at many Shriners Children’s locations) has been a game-changer for Cade and his family. More accurately, Ashley says, “It has been the biggest blessing — amazing beyond anything I could ever imagine.” fter meeting with POPS and a team of doctors to determine the best plan for helping Cade walk as soon as possible, the then 1-year-old was fit with a set of fully customized prosthetics. And he didn’t waste any time learning to use them. “He ditched the walker he was given and just took off,” Ashley explained. Now, Cade — who mom describes as “sweet, thoughtful and full of personality” — rarely sits still. And he rarely stops chatting excitedly about his visits to see Crissy Rose, certified prosthetist and orthotic fitter at Shriners Children’s in Greenville. Pirates Never mind the hours-long drive it takes for Cade’s family to get to Greenville, “he absolutely loves hopping in the car to see Crissy.” And the feeling is mutual. “I’ve been working with Cade for a few years now and his visits are still always a bright spot in my day. He is so determined and does everything with a “A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built smile,” said Crissy, who, like every member of the team at Shriners Children’s, for.” - John A.
