THE DRIVER Page 6 The Driver November 2018 Volunteer of the Month Sponsored by The Gateway Precinct & Rob Lowry November Volunteer Bob has done great work behind the scenes work for Feilding Golf Club for over 45 years. He has prepared our financial accounts for the Annual Report, and is more than happy to share his expertise when required or needed. Bob joined the Feilding Golf Club in 1969 and over the years has had many Hole in One’s. In 1971 he was elected Club Treasurer before that position was part of the board. In the mid 1980s he went on to be Chairman of the Board and then was Club President in 1991 and 1992 the year the floods caused havoc in our club. Bob has also assisted with the preparation of the financial statements for the MWGA and the Eagles Society. He has helped at many major events held at this golf club over the years, including the centennial celebrations in 2004 and the Freyberg Masters Tournament in 2006. Bob Allan Bob’s contribution to golf resulted in him becoming an Eagle many years ago and he was very deservedly made a Life Member of the Feilding Golf Club several years ago. Now retired from AllanMcNeill, Bob has had much pleasure from the golf club and is seen mowing regularly. He was instrumental in the purchase of a new rotary mower this year. Without doubt, Bob is most deserving of this months volunteer of the month. Well done Bob.

THE DRIVER Page 3 The Driver Page 3 Feilding/Levin Ladies Interclub 2018 A team of 17 ladies from our club travelled to Levin on 3rd October for the yearly friendly tussle for the shield. Levin weather was kind, sunny and springlike, and Levin Course was very well groomed. A happy bunch of women brought home the shield, which was to be played for in Feilding last year, but unfortunately the weather was dismal and wet, and it was decided to cancel play. The Levin ladies who travelled to Feilding decided to go shopping instead! Well done Feilding, here’s hoping for the same result next year! 2018 Father & Son Competition For the first time in a long time, the Father & Son competition came to a playoff. Rules state that in a playoff tie the competition was to be played over holes 1, 8 & 9, total stableford over those 3 holes. The round was tight after the 1st hole with par vs bogey, then an out of bounds on the 8th by the Naylor team, consisting of Chris Naylor and Mitchell Floyd-Naylor ultimately handed the trophy to the Ward team, which consisted of Trevor and Ethan Ward. Meaning there was a 3 point buffer playing the final hole. An exciting way to finish a great day that should be a priority on the golf calendar. Come on guys, lets get together for 2019 and have some fun and make the Feilding Golf Club rock like old times! Rebecca & Jonty Ward
