Bramley School & Nursery Leading the way in educating girls www.bramleyschool.co.uk office@bramleyschool.co.uk The Bramley Blog Easter 2013 • Issue 11 It is very rewarding to see the success our girls have when choosing their senior school. We are delighted that yet again all the girls have been accepted by the senior school of their choice and yet again scholarships have been awarded – congratulations to the girls, their parents and their teachers. See the Girls’ Successes Below: Tara Baker: Woldingham - Drama Scholarship Georgia Clare: Nonsuch High School for Girls, Rosebery School Georgina Fogarty: Caterham School - Half Term highlights .... The Open Morning we held in March was our most popular event of this kind – we had several visiting families who were all very complimentary about the mornings activities and our school with many registering their daughters since then. We will have another increase in pupil numbers from September 2013 serving to keep us all busy!! Little Bramley registrations are particularly pleasing. Easter Craft On Tuesday 19 March 2013, Girls in Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a day of Easter Craft. Girls were busy making Easter Cards, special Easter bunnies with moving ears and Easter baskets which were latterly filled with chocolate nests. The girls thoroughly enjoyed their day and look forward to taking their goodies home. Year 1 Visit to Kennedy’s Estate Agent On Tuesday 26 February, Year 1 went on a visit to Kennedy’s Estate Agents in Walton on the Hill to find out what Estate Agents do and what is involved with buying and selling houses. The girls came back to Bramley and built their very own Estate Agents within the Year 1 classroom where many hours have been spent over the half term role-playing the positions of estate agent and customer. This is all in line with their topic of houses and our homes. Tops Soiree Another outstanding performance from the girls took place on Wednesday 20 March and was thoroughly enjoyed by the performers and the audience alike. Well done, Tops! Billy No Buzz! Little Bramley and Reception Class delighted their friends and families with their interpretation of the play: Billy No Buzz. Kate Morten sang her Billy No Buzz solo beautifully and Annalise Dixon and Mabel Parnell sang their duet with confidence. The girls remembered their lines and the actions to the songs. This funny story with its catchy melodies has an important message for us all; we should accept people just the way they are - something we strive to do at Bramley School everyday. So remember…..it’s easy to be friends!! PDF created with pdfFactory trial version www.pdffactory.com

French Fancies In French this term Middles, Uppers and Tops have enjoyed giving and listening to presentations in French. Middles used town vocabulary they had learnt to create an imaginary town presentation; Uppers completed French food presentations (with plenty of tasting opportunities!) and Tops talked about their families. All in all a very interesting set of presentations. Lowers have enjoyed learning and using animal and food vocabulary in their lessons in a very practical way and their confidence is growing. Well done to all the girls! Strictly Science Exhibition Competition Bramley girls entered the Strictly Science Exhibition Competition before Christmas. Mrs Baxter Bramley Ball This years Bramley School Ball at Walton Heath Golf Club was a huge success. The venue was perfect, being central to most parents, and the food was excellent! Our thanks and gratitude has to go to the three organisers, Lucy Romano, Meredith Taylour and Vanessa Raymond, who made the evening seamless with music, a magician, canapés, a great choice of food and some amazing prizes for the raffle and the auction! Our thanks also have to go to Matt Baxter and Nick Russell who both ramped up the auction fever with the parents to reach a grand total of £3,815….. Someone is the proud owner of a very expensive goldfish!!! Lastly, but in no way least, Friends of Bramley would like to thank the most generous parents possible for supporting the Ball and raising an amazing £5,598 profit - the most ever raised at a Bramley Ball!! It is quite incredible that we set a fundraising target of £11,000 in September (to contribute to a huge IT project at the school to bring it into the 21st Century) and, subject to confirmation from the Friends of Bramley Treasurer, I think we may have already reached our target!! We hope to update you on progress with the IT enhancements next term so you can see where the money has been spent. Happy Easter Everyone!
