The jewel in the crown, however, is the recently opened Galbally Glen Waverley Ward Reserve in Hughesdale where Council spent almost half a million dollars building an amazing new play area. The success of this playgroup has been monash.vic.gov.au astronomical, with more than 400 families visiting each week. Late last year, Council approved a motion to open a second centre in Glen Waverley and it has quickly become Oakleigh Ward just as popular. We are also running specialist programs at the centres to help parents with a variety of issues such as anxiety, mental health concerns and the challenges of being a single parent. It is undoubtedly the initiative of which I am most proud to have championed.
