Time present and time past Are both perhaps present in time future, And time future contained in time past. If all time is eternally present All time is unredeemable. T.S Elliot, Four Quartets No. 1 Time’s nature is still mysterious, although it comes across us at all times. Its invisible and uncontrollable condition haunts even fuzzy minds. Isn’t that why art has been obsessed to represent it and determined to comprehend it? To affirm that art deals with time echoes a cliché, however, adverting on certain artistic practices, reminds us that we have not yet grasped it… at all. The Sybaris new catalogue, Temporal, introduces the work of four artist from different geographies, that approach time from its different relationships with the earth, nature and human experience. Through formats, such as sculpture, photography, installation and painting, Paola de Anda, Fernanda Barreto, María Cerdá and Karla Leyva works with the forms and properties of time and, far from manipulating and dominating them, establish a harmony in where the temporal defines the processes of each one. Thus, relating with the intimacies of time, they move away from control and representation to explore the forces and benefits of the temporal. 5
