Suzuki Ascension Workshop 2020 - Engelberg (Switzerland)

The Suzuki-Association Luzern-Zürich will be hosting the 13th Suzuki Workshop over the Ascension
weekend (May 21 to May 24, 2020).
A new approach and a change of location are the main differences this year. We look forward to
welcoming you to Engelberg. We have negotiated special rates with several different hotels in the
town. Attached/Below you will find the details.

This time is not only a beautiful and intensive experience for the participants and their families, but also
for the teachers and audience. We are at your disposal for any questions and we hope to make this an
unforgettable weekend in Engelberg. We hope you enjoy your time during the workshop in this
wonderful place.

Location: The course rooms are located in the community school and music school Engelberg,
Schulhausstrasse 5, 6390 Engelberg. These are the school buildings Äschi, Mühlematt and the music
school, which are located all in the same part of the school/monastery. There is a large car park approx.
300 m walk from the monastery.

Please pay attention: The course rooms can only be entered with slippers (indoor shoes).

Date: Thursday, 21 May - Sunday, 24 May 2020
Enrolment takes place from 12 noon at the Äschi school building in Engelberg. The course starts
punctually at 1pm in the auditorium of the school building, Äschi. All participants of the violin courses
should take their instruments with them.
The final concert on Sunday ends at 3:15pm.

Target group: All children taught according to the Suzuki Method. Children from issue (book?) 1 are
welcome in all participating instruments.

Instruments included: Suzuki violin, piano, cello, guitar, flute. Depending on the level, the children are
taught in different sized groups of approx. 8 - 16 lessons over the four days by different teachers.
Depending on the level and instrument there will also be an orchestra and ensemble playing.
    Suzuki Early Childhood Education: The "SECE" course is aimed at children up to the age of four.
Siblings of Suzuki children are also very welcome. Please note that each child should be accompanied by

Parents Violin Group: Since it is important for the children to make music "among themselves" during
the lessons and the parents attend lessons as the audience, we offer about two lessons per day
especially for parents who play violin. It doesn't matter if and how far the Suzuki repertoire can be
played by heart. In contrast to the courses for the children, music stands and music in the parents' violin
group are always welcome.

Please note that all courses can only be held with enough participants. The individual piano groups have
only a limited number of places and will be allocated after booking.

Groups:
The children are divided into groups according to the current piece they are playing from the Suzuki
repertoire. When registering, please indicate the current piece which the student will have reached in
their Suzuki lessons.
As we are in direct contact with the Suzuki teachers, you do not need to worry about the best possible
group arrangement.

Observers:
All music teachers who would like to observe the courses during the workshop are cordially invited. Of
course, this also applies to all non Suzuki teachers who would like to gain an insight into this teaching

Accommodation and meals are not included and must be organized by yourself.

Included in the course fee are all lessons during the workshop and the pianos provided. The catering for
students during breaks is also included (but without lunch and diner).
Please transfer the course fees so that all bank charges are at your expense, otherwise we reserve the
right to charge you for the expenses.

After the transfer of the course fee a confirmation of registration will be sent via e-mail. We apologize
for any inconvenience caused by the fact that after receipt of the registration confirmation no refund of
the course fee will be possible. We reserve the right to cancel courses with an insufficient number of
participants after the registration deadline of 1st March 2020. If this happens, all course fees will be
refunded.
Information about the repertoire to be practised and sheet music for any additional pieces will be sent
to you via email after the registration deadline.

Check-in from 12 noon for course participants at the Äschi school building.
The course participants will receive their timetable and the course T-shirt, which will be worn at the final
concert.

At 1pm, the welcome to the workshop will take place in the auditorium of the school building (violinists
will take their instruments with them).

Departure: Sunday, 24th May 2020
On Sunday, 24th May 2020, the big final concert will take place at 13.30 h in the auditorium of the
Engelberg school. All course participants will meet at 13.00 h in the auditorium.
Concert dresses: black shoes, black skirt or black trousers, workshop T-shirt.
End of concert: 3.15pm

Timetable
Lessons start punctually at 9.00 am - please be there 10 minutes in advance to tune the instruments.
The last lesson or concert end at 6pm. At noon there will be a two-hour break. Otherwise, the evenings
are free.

Overnight stay
Participants are responsible for their own accommodation. Please do not book via booking.com or
similar pages. Contact the hotels directly. We have made arrangements for our workshop at various
hotels in Engelberg. These can be booked at a slightly lower price if the Suzuki Workshop Ascension
2020 is mentioned. Further information can be found on the following pages.
