“EDUCAZIONE DALLA NASCITA COME AIUTO ALLA VITA” MONTESSORI BIRTH TO 2 INTERNATIONAL COURSE IN ROME ITALY Course Description June 22 to July 6, 2019 This Birth to 2 Montessori Course is an intensive for anyone who works with birth, infancy, and early childhood to encourage them toward cultivating a new adult who is capable of following the child. It will be a unique offering of experiential and practical work, theoretical lectures, and Montessori pedagogy. The latest science confirming Montessori’s observations on birth and the beginning of life will be presented. The aim of the course is to offer a vision of the non-medicalized, healthy child who is free to grow without the burden of social or scholastic prejudice. In this vision, the child is understood from the interdisciplinary perspective of having both a biological and psychological nature. Our two-week intensive is a combination of workshops and lectures, offered by Centro Nascita Montessori (CNM), the organization created by Adele Costa Gnocchi after she founded the Scuola Assistenti all’Infanzia Montessori (AIM). The course is organized with the pedagogical guidance of Grazia Honegger Fresco who studied directly under Maria Montessori in the last Casa dei bambini training held in Rome. The fundamental aspects of the training are designed to help overcome the struggle between adult and child. Opportunities for personal development, group work, practical experiences, theoretical lessons, and working with one’s own hands make up the framework for the course. We will work toward developing the capacity for scientific observation and abstaining from judgement — critical skills for those who work with the youngest children and their parents. Participants will observe i piccolissimi under the direct supervision of Montessorians who have over 100 years combined experience with Centro Nascita Montessori. There will be opportunities to engage in discussions, and to challenge or verify theoretical models or methods, testing them against direct observations of the children. for more information contact: Karin Slabaugh educationfrombirth@gmail.com +39 3335465765 or Margherita Vertolomo segreteria@centronascitamontessori.it + 39 373 8593710 +39 0672 016093 (office) www.cosmictask0-3.education www.centronascitamontessori.it
