Facility Overview The Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) is a 182-bed standalone public health facility that will increase access to specialist rehabilitation and geriatric services, surgical and endoscopic procedural services, and outpatient services primarily for patients from the Metro North catchment. Metro North Hospital and Health Service (Metro North) will operate the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) – part of the Herston Health Precinct, one of Australia’s largest integrated health and knowledge precincts. STARS is a new greenfield and digital, specialist public health facility which is due to open in 2021. It has been designed to deliver a range of new and expanded healthcare services to meet demand and increase patient access to specialist rehabilitation services, elective surgical and endoscopy procedural services. STARS is a new 182-bed specialist public health facility that couples complex rehabilitation and specialist elective surgical services and procedures in a planned procedure environment to provide patients with greater access to care in clinically recommended timeframes. STARS will comprise 100 rehabilitation beds to provide care to patients with complex and specialist rehabilitation needs. and include special purpose therapy areas. Clinical Service Profile Key health services to be delivered in a fully operational STARS include: o General and specialist rehabilitation services, including a Brain Injury Unit and services for major trauma and complex rehabilitation patients co-located in one facility – the first of its kind in Queensland; o Planned day only and short stay surgical and endoscopic proc edures covering the following specialty areas: Urology, Gynaecology, Ear nose and throat (ENT), Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Plastics and Reconstruction, Ophthalmology and Gastroenterology; and o Associated clinical and non-clinical support functions including but not limited to Rehabilitation Engineering, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, Central Sterilising and a satellite Pathology service. An Alliance has been established between Metro North and University of Queensland (UQ) to partner in developing a Centre of Excellence in rehabilitation and planned procedures that delivers world-leading care, research and educational programs for the people of Queensland and beyond. The nine-level facility will feature: Rehabilitation Services 100 rehabilitation beds: • 60 general rehabilitation beds (30 existing beds transferring from the Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit (GARU) and 30 new beds) • New specialist rehabilitation services comprising a 20-bed acquired brain injury unit and a 20-bed specialist rehabilitation unit • 1310m2 day and inpatient therapy space • 28-bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management Service (GEMS) ward (transferring from RBWH • Onsite Rehabilitation Engineering Page 2 of 4

Salary and Allowances • Salary will be determined in line with the MOCA5 • $3,670 per annum vocational training subsidy - RMOs who confirm acceptance in a vocational training program • $2,200 per annual professional development allowance – All RMOs, other than Interns and RMOs in receipt of the vocational training subsidy Working Hours • Ordinary hours of duty are 76 hours per fortnight. Medical officers may be required to work overtime or participate in their department on call roster. Leave entitlements • 5 weeks Annual Leave • 10 days Sick Leave Page 3 of 4
