Bach Joseph Robinson, oboe; Joey Fala, organ Welcome and Announcements Christian Antwi Gathering Around the Word Hymn No. 366, stanzas 1, 4 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling HYFRYDOL Vicki Fey, keyboard Janet Abercrombie, Tricia Berrett, Jim Beaty, Christian Imboden, Vocals Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of heaven, to earth come down, fix in us thy humble dwelling; all thy faithful mercies crown. Jesus, thou art all compassion; pure, unbounded love thou art; visit us with thy salvation; enter every trembling heart. Finish then thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be; let us see thy great salvation perfectly restored in thee: changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise. Prayer of Adoration Christian Antwi Call to Confession Mary Kate McAlister Prayer of Confession Mary Kate McAlister Merciful God, Already we have fallen short. Already we have spoken with abruptness. Already we have questioned your presence among us.
The messages we receive from the world around us too often leads us down paths of self-doubt or self-inflation. We grow preoccupied with our belongings and accolades, choosing endless productivity over Sabbath. Forgive us, we pray, and ground us once again in your love. Love that says to us: You are enough. You do enough. Love that says, I am with you. Have mercy on us, O God, when we lose our footing again — We know that we will, and we trust that you’ll remain. In Jesus Christ we pray, amen. Response Following Communion Doxology OLD 100TH Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below; praise God above, ye heavenly host; Creator, Christ, and Holy Ghost. Amen Bearing and Following the Word Into the World Hymn No. 435 There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy IN BABILONE Janet Abercrombie, Tricia Berrett, Jim Beaty, Jr., vocals; Vicki Fey, keyboard There's a wideness in God's mercy, like the wideness of the sea. There's a kindness in God's justice, which is more than liberty. There is no place where earth's sorrows are more felt than up in heaven. There is no place where earth's failings have such kindly judgment given. For the love of God is broader than the measures of the mind. And the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. If our love were but more faithful, we would gladly trust God's Word, and our lives reflect thanksgiving for the goodness of our Lord. Blessing and Benediction Christian Antwi Sending Music Take Me to the King Kirk Franklin Karen Brown, piano Music is printed under Onelicense.netAA-710014 | CCS License No. 11974 | CCLI License No. 1950421 I n this season, we remember God’s love is God’s gift to us all. Receiving God’s love, and in turn sharing this love in abundant ways with one another and our neighbors is the greatest gift. As of today, thanks to a generous response of this congregation to God’s call, we are at roughly 90% of our annual 2021 goal. We are hopeful that with your continued generosity and commitment we will still achieve this goal. It takes all of us and all of our gifts to re-create our world with God.
