IMMERSION PROGRAMME Our Boarding Immersion Programmes offer an outstanding opportunity for pupils in Years 7 - 10 to join SAMPLE TIMETABLE Windermere School for a short period. You will make friends from the UK and around the world whilst improving your English skills and developing independence. Studying alongside Windermere School pupils, you will participate in all aspects of school life, following the normal timetable of lessons in your year group. Accommodation is in one of three boarding houses under the careful watch of Houseparents. English as an Additional Language tuition, if required, is in small groups. You will also enjoy sports, social events and activities including sailing at Hodge Howe, our private watersports centre on the shores of Windermere, and a weekly excursion. IMMERSION THROUGHT THE YEAR Unable to come in June? It is often possible to join Windermere School at other times of the year (during term time) subject to availability in the boarding house. The minimum stay is two weeks and applications are advised early. WISS COURSE OPTIONS All courses last for two weeks. International Summer School pupils can choose from three exciting activity programmes, sailing, outdoor adventure or musical theatre. MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS West End at Windermere Paul Platt Paul began his career teaching Outdoor Education in 1987, working in an outdoor centre in North Wales. Windermere School has a long and successful history in the performing arts. Recent school performances He continued teaching in Wales working at the National Mountain Centre, Plas y Brenin, until 1999 when he moved to the Lake District. Paul was the Chairman of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors from 2011 have included Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Grease and Shrek. Our ‘One Week Only’ production company, to 2016. Qualified as a Powerboat instructor, Race coach and a keel boat instructor as well as Rock Climbing, Canoe and kayaking instructor and mountain biking. Since 2001 Matt has led expeditions and taught adventure around the world including Tibet, Morocco, East Africa, India and Asia. Matt has led over 20 expeditions up Kilimanjaro and also taken groups on 600m peaks in the Himalayas. When not working Matt can be found either with his family or fell running, skiing, biking and of course sailing. Joe Baker Joe learnt to sail at Windermere School at the age of seven and started racing competitively at the age of twelve. H was selected for the Great British Topper National Squad in 2014 which saw him training and racing all over the world. Joe Sailed on the Topper Circuit, won a variety of Championships with the Topper Northwest Open Championship being the favourite one. Having competed in the National and World Championships Joe transitioned to Laser and sailing on the Laser Circuit to then winning the National Inland Laser 4.7 Championship in 2015. Joe now team races for Loughborough University and is an RYA Senior Sailing Instructor.

Our boarding houses have a resident Houseparent who is responsible for looking after the pupils and for the smooth running of the House, which are comfortable and well-equipped. Many rooms enjoy lake views and rooms generally accommodate 2-4 pupils. Where possible, pupils who speak the same native language are allocated to different rooms to ensure English is spoken at all times. Our houses feature a kitchen in which to make drinks and snacks and a large common room where you can play pool or table tennis or relax with a book or a movie. Medical care is overseen by the School. Appointments can be made at the doctor’s surgery in Win- dermere and the closest hospital is in Kendal, a 15 minute drive from the school. The school is compliant with current WHO and UK government Covid-19 guidelines and adheres to the Boarding School Association’s Covid-Safe charter.
