Mobility Grants What Study, internship or thesis research at a partner institution of your faculty outside Europe. For whom Bachelor’s or Master’s students from all faculties. Nationality is not a criterion. Priority Students, known by the university’s Social Service or Disability Office, may be prioritized and may receive a higher grant. Duration 1 – 12 months, departure between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023 Grant Scholarship amounts for one semester may vary between 1,000 and 6,000 euros, depending on the distance and the fact whether the student belongs to a vulnerable group or not. Travel Grants to the South What Credit mobility for internship or thesis research in a developing country, in cooperation with a host institution in the South. For whom Bachelor’s or Master’s students from all faculties. EU-nationality + Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. Participation in the intercultural preparation day and the session on “safety, health and paperwork” Priority Students, known by the university’s Social Service or Disability Office, may be prioritized. Duration At least 6 weeks in the South (40 possible destinations) Departure between December 1, 2021 and December 1, 2022 Grant 1.000 € for each travel grant student. Travel Grants to the South Where can you go and why? Countries • Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo DR, Ethiopia, Guinee, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe • Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Palestine, Philippines, Vietnam • Latin America: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru, Suriname KU Leuven will finance a limited number of Travel Grants to the following additional 8 countries: Chili, Colombia, Ghana, India, Malawi, Nepal, Paraguay, Zambia Please note that the VLIR UOS country list will change as from September 2022! This might also affect the REI-KUL country list. => More information will follow in due time. CSC-scholarships China What The Chinese government provides grants to study in China (excl Hong Kong and Taiwan) For whom Bachelor’s or Master’s students from all faculties. Students with Chinese nationality are not eligible for this programme. Priority Students with a keen interest in China, its culture and its language. Students, known by the university’s Social Service or Disability Office, may be prioritized. Duration 1 semester or 1 year Grant Tuition waiver + monthly allowance of 2.500/3.000 CNY + accommodation on campus in a shared room + basic health insurance Doc. • Registration certificate • Copy of student’s highest diploma • Transcript of records (current and previous years) • Motivation letter • 2 signed letters of recommendation from (associate) professors • Copy of your passport • Medical examination form (only for duration 1 year) • Non-criminal record report Selection Faculty + central level + Chinese embassy Deadline Please consult the exchange coordinator of your faculty. Yenching Academy What Excellence programme of Peking University, offering a scholarship for an interdisciplinary 2-year Master in China Studies (in English or Chinese) For whom • Bachelor’s or Master’s students from all faculties • No preliminary Chinese language requirements • Under 25 and holding a Bachelor’s degree on August 31, 2022 • PRC citizenship holders should apply through their university in China • No enrollment as a student in any other degree-granting programmes during study in China • Requirements: academic excellence, sense for innovation, leadership skills, social engagement Duration 1 year (September 2022 – August 2023) – possiblity to receive a scholarship during the second year Grant Monthly allowance of 2500/3500 RMB + tuition fee waiver + accommodation in the Yenching Academic House and meals on campus + medical insurance + return ticket Doc. • CV • Official transcript of records and diploma/certificate of enrollment • Motivation letter • Statement of research interest • 2 letters of recommendation Selection Faculty + central level + Yenching Academy Deadline Please consult the exchange coordinator of your faculty. Luc Sels Fund – Students in the world What Physical or virtual participation in an international student competition or social innovation project outside Belgium and outside your home country. For whom Bachelor’s or Master’s students from all faculties. Nationality is not a criterion. If things do go wrong … | insurance ▪ “You remain registered as a student of KU Leuven during your study period abroad, this implies that the KU Leuven insurance continues for personal accidents from the day of your departure until the day of your return. The KU Leuven accident insurance is only valid for activities which are part of your study, both during the study activities and the road to and from them.
