Editorial Dear residents, Thank you for choosing to stay in a university hall of residence run by Crous de Lyon. The Centre Régional des œuvres Universitaires et Scolaires is a public institution that depends on the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, which is in charge of implementing State policy in student welfare. The Crous de Lyon forms part of the network of œuvres universitaires et Scolaires (student welfare offices), headed by the Centre National des Œuvres Universitaires et Scolaires (CNOUS). It is tasked with facilitating access to higher education as well as student welfare as a whole focusing on four areas: social assistance, housing, university catering and culture. The Crous de Lyon works closely with the local authorities (Region, conurbation, cities), the Community of Universities and Institutions (COMUE) of the Lyon Saint-Etienne site and higher education institutions, to develop Student Welfare together. Since 2014, the implementation of a joint consultation with the above-mentioned stakeholders has resulted in a shared vision and objectives centred on Student Welfare. The city of Lyon is one of the French cities where students can enjoy a pleasant study environment therefore making it particularly attractive. I am convinced that you will have a great university experience and a lot of fun living in Lyon. This guide should provide you with all the information you need to move into your university hall of residence, and above all to appreciate the extent of the services the Crous de Lyon can offer you. The entire staff is at your service to assist you in your move as well as throughout your studies to help you find the solutions the best suited to your needs. I hope you settle in well and wish you an excellent start to your studies. Paying my rent Online payment You must pay your rent through the central online payment centre. I then click on «Demander mon renouvellement” (Apply for renewal). BEFORE 30th APRIL 2021 • If the summary received is correct, you do not have to do anything. Your application will be reviewed. Hall of residence rules A few reminders LIABILITY AND SAFETY • You must take out an insurance contract covering the rental risks and civil liability which is mandatory. • For safety reasons, you agree not to use gas appliances, heaters and hot plates. • It is prohibited to disconnect or obstruct the smoke detectors installed in your accommodation. • You cannot intentionally install any lock other than the existing one provided. DAILY LIFE • To allow post to be delivered, all post must specify your building, the number of the accommodation, the exact address and postal code. • Abuse of alcohol is prohibited in indoor communal and outdoor areas within the site. MY DAILY LIFE • For the well-being of all, smoking or vaping is prohibited in the halls, corridors and communal areas. • Before you leave, make sure you turn off or disconnect your appliances and close all taps and windows. • You are at liberty of have visitors, but they must always be accompanied by you. However, you are not permitted to have anyone stay over. • I make sure that no one takes advantage of me opening the entrance door to come in. • I make sure I lock the entrance door of my hall of residence when I go in and out. • Subletting whereby a resident makes his/her university accommodation available to a third party in return for consideration, most often financial, is strictly prohibited. MAINTAINING YOUR ACCOMMODATION • You are responsible for your accommodation and the furniture and equipment made available to you; under no circumstances may you modify the structure or access to it. • You are responsible for the cleaning of your accommodation. • The presence of animals, even occasional, is prohibited. • It is prohibited to place objects on the window sills for obvious safety reasons, it is prohibited to throw anything out of the windows. • Leave the communal areas clean. 12

CULTURE ACTIONS INITIATIVE The Crous helps you get involved in the cultural life of your university by providing financial support for your projects. The Culture-Actions system is made up of two support funds: • the Culture Fund for cultural and artistic projects • the Action fund for community, solidarity, sports or economic-based initiatives. Students must present projects that will impact the student world. They go before a regional commission, set up three times a year.
