STAY CONNECTED! Want to know what’s happening on campus? Here are a few tips to stay connected: 1. MyRVC provides our students with quick access to the most commonly needed resources, including Online Services, Eagle, student email, password management, and more! 2. Check your RVC email regularly. It’s the official communication from the college and this is where you may receive information from Financial Aid, campus offices, and other updates: RockValleyCollege.edu/Mail. Every Monday an email is sent out to students from RVC-Public Relations@ RockValleyCollege.edu. 3. Log in to EAGLE, RVC’s Learning Management System, regularly, to check your online courses and any announcements: RockValleyCollege.edu/EAGLE. 4. Follow RVC on social media: RockValleyCollege.edu/About/FollowRVC.cfm. 5. Join a club or organization, attend an event, or get a job on campus. STAY UP TO DATE ON IMPORTANT DATES Students should know due dates for their classes (exam dates, paper due dates, etc.) and they should also be up-to-date on RVC’s academic calendar: RockValleyCollege.edu/ImportantDates. Students should check the RVC calendar and their balance due in Online Services to ensure payment deadlines are met to avoid being taken out of classes due to non-payment. LEARNING TOOLS &TECHNOLOGY EAGLE EAGLE is a Learning Management System (LMS). Instructors may use EAGLE for assignments, quizzes, exams, turning in papers or projects, discussion posts, etc. Online courses rely more heavily on EAGLE. EAGLE can be accessed at: RockValleyCollege.edu/EAGLE. There is also an app for EAGLE, called the Canvas app. Laptops If you don’t have your own computer or laptop, you can contact EAGLE support to find out about renting a laptop for the semester: (815) 921-4646. Computer Labs Students can use the computers in the Library, located on the first floor of the Educational Resource Center (ERC) and the computer lab on the first floor of the Woodward Technology Center (WTC). Printing is available in both buildings. Calculators If you need a calculator for your math class, call (815) 921-4044 to find out more information. Office 365 Students have access to FREE Microsoft Office while taking classes at RVC. Find out how to download Microsoft 365 here: RockValleyCollege.edu/Office365. Zoom Zoom is an online conference tool that can be used for groups or 1:1 meetings. Zoom can be accessed on most smart phones, tablets and computers. For optimal use, a microphone and camera are recommended. Zoom is often used in synchronous online courses or virtual events. Learn more at: www.zoom.us. Wi-Fi on Campus RVC offers Wi-Fi to our guests while on campus. Learn more about using our Wi-Fi here: RockValleyCollege.edu/WiFi. RVC Mobile App Download “Ellucian Go,” the RVC mobile app. PASSWORD MANAGEMENT You will log in to your EAGLE account, Online Services, and student email with your student I.D. number and your password that you created. If you forget your password, visit our password management site: RockValleyCollege.edu/Password. You can also contact our Welcome Center (Information Center) at (815) 921-4250 for assistance. ACADEMIC ADVISING Students at Rock Valley College have a variety of degree and certificate options. Our transfer degrees (Associate of Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Engineering Science) prepare students to transfer to a four-year college or university. Our Career and Technical programs provide students with coursework that prepares them to enter a career after RVC. The key for either path is to meet with an Academic or Career Advisor regularly to ensure you are taking the coursework that will help you meet your goals. The degrees and certificates offered at RVC are listed on our website as well as in the College Catalog. Students also need to complete a graduation application when they are preparing to graduate.
