Direct School Admission (DSA – JC) • DSA-JC is an admission exercise to allow JCs/Institutions to select some Sec4/5 students for admission to JC1 based on their achievements and talents before the GCE ‘O’ Level examination results are released. • Different JCs will have their own timeline – NJC application usually from May to July last year – Most will be May to Aug (some will end earlier)

Aptitude-based admissions exercise that allows students to apply for and receive conditional offers for admission to polytechnic based on their aptitudes and interests, prior to receiving their final grades. Student selection based on: Aptitude and interest in a field related to the diploma course they are applying for. Students with outstanding talents, such as in sports, arts, leadership, entrepreneurship and community service may also be considered. Participation in relevant Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs), Advanced Elective Modules (AEMs), Applied Learning Programmes (ALP) and Applied Subjects, as well as participation in activities such as work attachments and sustained involvement in projects that are related to the course students are applying for.

LHKL1 ‘Commonly’ Asked Questions Subject Combination Qn: Are the girls still able to appeal to change the subject after the Subject Combination Exercise? If so, what is the criteria? After receiving the Subject Combination Allocation Results – students are able to submit a request to school via email. Criteria Student should have met the subject or the option criteria e.g. Met the EMSB ≥ 65% to offer 8 subject combinations or Math ≥ 60% to offer A.Math Request submitted within the period stated. Student meets the criteria to offer Music or Drama at Sec 3.

‘Commonly’ Asked Questions NDLP/PLP Qn: I heard that MOE will provide a laptop to every Sec student. If that happens, will there be any rules and regulations for students on usage of the laptop? We, parents, have a hard time in managing our child screen time. - A. Teaching and learning device - Device Management Application (DMA) will also be installed in the student’s laptop to allow teachers and parents to manage the device and the software. - White-listing - B. Digital Literacies Programme (Cyber Wellness) - C. Acceptable Use Policy for laptop and mobile phone - D. Working with Students and Parents: Screen-time, ethical and responsible use, etc
