PRE-RACE DETAILS Follow these Pre-Race instructions to ensure quick registration on race day. • Visit the Seattle Super & Sprint Weekend event page on our website. • Scroll down and click on the START TIME tab, they will be posted Wednesday, April 3rd. • Don't forget to print and bring your registration barcode and photo identification to pick up your packet on race day. Click here for instructions to locate your barcode. For a complete description of how to complete each obstacle, what’s allowed, what constitutes "failing" an obstacle, official penalties, and a video on how to complete a proper Spartan burpee, click here. Age Group competitors follow the same rules and standards as Elite racers, including being officiated and video recorded. Read up on the rules now and get ready to race. RACE DAY REGISTRATION FLOW Please show up at least 1.5 HOURS prior to your Heat Start Time. Note: All racers must run in their designated start time. Please be in the starting corral on time. Age Group Competitors: please note that failure to start at your designated heat time will result in being moved to the Open category. SATURDAY SUPER: Registration Opens: 6:30am // Registration Closes: 1:30pm SUNDAY SPRINT: Registration Opens: 6:30am // Registration Closes: 1:00pm WHAT YOU NEED: Registration Barcode and Photo Identification STEP 1: Proceed to Registration Tent area STEP 4: Visit the Festival Area where you will find and locate a Spartan Volunteer. Spartan-approved sponsors/vendors sampling and selling product, as well as our official Spartan STEP 2: Present your photo ID and registra- Store. tion barcode to the Volunteer. Receive your packet. Your packet will include: STEP 5: Check your bag at On-Site Bag Check. Please note: • Spartan Headband with Bib Number • Bags will only be returned to individuals • Wristband with Start Time whose name and number match up. • Timing Chip and Wristband • Bag check opens at 6:30am and closes • Free Drink Wristband when the last racer picks up their bags. • 2019 Merchandise discount coupon STEP 3: Once you have your race packet, timing chip, proceed to the Festival Area. 3
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Terrain: Welcome to Seattle, the heart of the Pacific Northwest. The Pacific Northwest offers a little of everything in terms of terrain: mountainous trails, rolling hills, creeks, rocky byways and trees in every direction. With so many towering trees and natural scenery as far as your eyes can see, you won’t even know you’re so close to Seattle at this venue. If you are lucky you might get an amazing view of Mount Rainier as well! Special Gear: Racers should plan to bring appropriate fuel for their needs. No fuel will be provided on course, only water. Hydration packs (or water containers of some variety) are strongly suggested for all racers. Please note that shoes with spikes are not allowed. Aid Stations: At each stop you will be able to drink as much water as you want, however we ask that you only take one (1) cup. • SUPER: There will be six (6) aid stations on course with no hydration pack refilling station, however you will be able to fill up your pack at the Start Line. • SPRINT: There will be three (3) aid stations on course with no hydration pack refilling station, however you will be able to fill up your pack at the Start Line. On-Course Hydration Tips: • Make sure to fill your pack up prior to the race. You can purchase hydration packs at the Spartan store on race day. • Make sure you carry enough water to be able to keep you hydrated between stations. • Make sure to stop at every aid station to get water, use your pack in between. • We highly suggest carrying some type of electrolyte drink in addition to water. • Make sure to properly hydrate in the week leading up to the event. COURSE CUTOFFS Course Closing: Super and Sprint participants must be at the finish line by 9:00pm. Any racers remaining on the course at 9:00pm will be removed from the course for their own safety and will be considered a DNF (Did Not Finish). This means you will not get a finishing time, medal or shirt. The race will not count towards your trifecta, and you will not get a refund or a future race credit. Additional course cutoffs will be announced prior to Race Day and Spartan reserves the right to modify, change cutoffs and remove racers for health and safety issues, or unforeseen events. • 12:00pm: ALL racers starting at or after 12:00pm MUST have a working headlamp. • 4:00pm: Any racer on the course must have a working headlamp on them. If you do not have a headlamp, you risk being pulled from the course. • 6:00pm: Any racer who has not passed Twister by this time will be removed from the course. • 9:00pm: Course is closed. Any racers who have not finished by this time will be pulled from the course. COURSE ELEVATION PROFILE OVERALL DIFFICULTY: TECHNICAL TERRAIN: ELEVATION CHANGE: Mandatory Gear: One working headlamp. See cutoffs for additional information. You can pur- chase headlamps at the merchandise tent on race day. Recommended Gear: Extra headlamp batteries, a means of carrying at least 32oz of water with additional fluids staged in gear drop bin, electrolytes, calorie source, appropriate gear given the weather and first aid material. 5

EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING • All participants are encouraged to bring a change of clothes, shoes and a plastic bag for wet and muddy items. • Shoes with spikes are not allowed. • Our official Spartan Store will open at the same time as the festival area. AWARD CEREMONY KIDS AWARDS CEREMONY: SATURDAY, April 13th at 11:00am and SUNDAY, April 14th at 11:00am • The top 3 boys and girls from the Kids competitive category will be recognized with awards ELITE AWARDS CEREMONY: SATURDAY, April 13th at 11:15 am and SUNDAY, April 14th t 10:30 am • In addition to prize money, the top 3 male and female Elite competitors receive a unique Spartan Delta award and a free race. AGE GROUP AWARDS CEREMONY: SATURDAY, April 13th at 12:00pm and SUNDAY, April 14th at 11:30am • All 6 Age Group categories will be recognized on the podium, and awards given for the top 3 competitors from each category, for both male and female. 7
KID’S RACE • There are three Kid’s Race distances available to race at the event. Please note, distances are deter mined by age groups. Make sure to register for the proper age group. • 2 Mile, 1 Mile, and 1/2 Mile • Each Kid’s Race Finisher will receive a finisher’s medal and Kid’s Race T-shirt. • Each family will receive two (2) free spectator passes at registration, included in your purchase. • Don’t forget to stop by the Spartan Store to shop our latest Kid’s apparel ranges and accessories! • NEW FOR 2019! Timing for all outdoor Kids Races (not including Stadion or standalone Kids events). This will allow for better photo tagging and overall experience. Kids Race FAQ here. Kid’s Registration: Registration for the Spartan Kids Race will be at the Kid’s Registration tent. A bib will be assigned upon check-in. The parent/guardian accompanying the child must show valid photo identification in order to pick up the registration packet. Kids On-site Pricing: 2 Mile Competitive: $55 2 Mile Open: $45 1 Mile Open: $40 1/2 Mile Open: $35 FRIDAY OPEN HOUSE 4-6 PM (PARKING ON-SITE) The Spartan Open House is a chance for newbies and expert Spartans alike to hang out pre-race, practice on obstacles, join a guided obstacle tour with an SGX certified coach, get early access to merchandise, meet new Spartans while soaking up the music and pre-race vibe in festival, and more. Spartan staff and SGX Coaches will be on hand to answer all questions about Spartan and what to expect on race day, as well as provide expert tips on how to crush Spartan obstacles like a pro. Anyone 14 years and up will have time to practice on the obstacles. Most of the course is off-limits during the Open House in order to minimize risk and keep you safe. We are excited that legendary ultrarunner Scott Jurek is going to come in to do some promotion for Seattle Spartan Trail on Friday. People can come run with him and see him on Friday at 6pm at Seven Hills Running Shop in Seattle, where he is doing a casual run and Q&A - 'Run & Talk with Trail Running Leg- ends Scott Jurek, Luis Escobar and Charlie Engle. SPECTATORS • Spectator passes are available online for $20.00 for Saturday and Sunday. Passes will be available on-site for $25.00. • Spectator wristbands can be picked up at the Spectator Tent on Race Day. • Please print and fill out the Spartan Race Waiver from Seattle Super & Sprint Weekend event page and bring it with you along with one valid form of photo identification. • Food, drink and sponsor product will be available for purchase, please bring cash. • Some venues have unique spectator course access with obstacle viewing, to get your favorite Spartan Racer’s picture. FACILITIES • Porta-Potties will be located throughout the festival area. • Cold Wash is located on-site, but bring a towel and a change of clothes. INCLEMENT WEATHER In the event of inclement weather such as lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes and the like, Spartan Race reserves the right to eliminate obstacles, select portions of the course or cancel the event in order to ensure the safety of racers, volunteers and staff. As always, weather can be unpredictable. Please come prepared for chilly morning and evening temps and possible rainstorms. SPARTAN INFORMATION • Don't forget to print and bring your registration barcode to pick up your packet on race day. Click here for instructions to locate your barcode. • You must have photo identification to check in. • All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Leaving your child unattended while you are racing will result in you being pulled off the course and asked to leave. • To ensure the safety of our customers, partners, and staff, Spartan strictly prohibits the operation or use of aerial drones at Spartan events by the general public (including recreational users, hobbyists, media and journalists) without Spartan's prior written authorization. Please note this prohibition extends to any aerial drones launched or operated from the event venue, as well as aerial drones launched from adjacent properties outside of the event venue, but flying within the event venue's boundaries. Spartan reserves the right to eject a person from an event for any violation of this policy, and reserves all civil and legal remedies available to it under applicable laws or regulations. • No pop-up tents are allowed in the festival. Tent space is reserved for our sponsors. • No coolers or glass bottles allowed on the property. Security staff will check for them as you enter. • If you wear a GoPro, or any other type of POV camera, please make sure your contact information (name & phone number) is somewhere on the camera. If you lose the camera on the course, this is the only way we are able to identify it. • Drones are not allowed onsite. • Racers ages 14 and older can participate in the adult’s race. Those under 14 are encouraged to join the Kid’s Race. • Please DO NOT call the venue with any questions.
