Enthusiasm.

When anyone asked Mary Kay Ash which she preferred, enthusiasm or technique, her
answer was always enthusiasm.

She said, “Enthusiasm is the motivating power to success. The person who is enthusiastic
exercises a magnetic influence over those with whom he or she comes in contact. To become
enthusiastic, act enthusiastic. It could easily revolutionize your life.“

It gave me a chuckle when I read her explain it as “contagious as measles and as powerful
as dynamite.”

And from that concept, this year’s Spark A Chain Reaction Seminar theme was born. Every
connection you make, big or small, is a link to the chain of your goals and dreams. It’s
about taking that first step. And there’s never a better time than a fresh, new Seminar year.
Fresh energy, fresh momentum, fresh determined attitude that expects nothing less than the
success. When you approach your business like this, you’ll see incredible changes. So get
started by channeling your energy into product sales and team-building, and fuel your fire
for the rest of the year!

Speaking of fresh and new, when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, it forced us – you and corporate
– to look at things differently. Business has definitely not been as usual, but it also taught us
that change was ok. In fact, change was GOOD. Things we’ve been “talking” about trying
or “wanting” to do became a reality.

One of those “things” was Applause® magazine. I had seen the US’s Digital Showcase app
and was amazed. I instantly thought: “We need this for our Applause® magazine. I love a
printed piece as much as anyone, but when I saw the capabilities of this app and how
it could bring a publication to life, I was mesmerized. As I spoke to our creative team,
education team, sales development team, and so on, we saw all of the possibilities for you –
the sales force. The ones out in the field working their businesses.

Whether it’s on phone or tablet, Apple or Android, you can take your favourite magazine
wherever you go…in the palm of your hand. But more than that, it’s going to be fully
interactive with video integration, pop-ups, swipe throughs, live links, and so much more.
And this isn’t like the eCatalog. It’s built for mobile! It’s built for touchscreen. Best of all,
Applause® is just the first step. We’re going to fill this digital library with so many more of your
go-to resources and publications.

Mary Kay Digital Showcase CA, Applause® magazine’s new home, will be live in mid-August.
And don’t be discouraged or overwhelmed if you’re not a digital diva! It’s easy to use and
we’ll have a video to show you all the fun features!

      here has been no better time to rally

      another than now. With Covid-19 becoming
a global pandemic, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable
Foundation (MKACF) wanted to help relieve
some of the burden that this virus brought on
many shelters across the nation. We saw this as
an opportunity to give back in a different way.

The MKACF provided hand sanitizers and a $2,000
donation each to 49 shelters across Canada, in
a small effort to lend a helping hand. We were
thrilled to see the heartwarming response that

 Each stepping stone is a milestone to be celebrated, says Independent Sales Director Katy Goulet from
 Sainte-Monique, QC.

 Since signing an Independent Beauty Consultant agreement on October 18, 2016, she has kept a constant
 eye on the prize. For Katy, this is the pink Cadillac. She was certain she would one day grip the steering
 wheel of this trophy on wheels. More than 24,000 pink Cadillacs have hit the road in North America
 over the past 50 years. Why not one more? With Katy’s name attached to it.

 To reach that goal, she knew she’d need to take one measured step at a time. With a laser-like focus and
 unwavering dedication, it took Katy four years and the use of five career cars to get there. She managed
 her personal feat this quarter.

 “I am extremely proud,” Katy said of her team’s year-end achievement. “The Pink Diamonds were
 determined to earn the use of our Cadillac and we did it.”

 She counts this as her proudest Mary Kay accomplishment, so far. And that’s saying something, considering
 Katy’s long list of achievements. “People criticize and judge a lot, but when they see that we are a Cadillac
 Unit, their heads turn when we go by and that’s a fantastic feeling.” Not one to sit on her laurels, Katy and
 the Pink Diamonds are setting their sights on reaching yet another team milestone — reaching $1 million
 in sales.

 “You always need to aim higher,” said Katy. She and the Pink Diamonds managed the Circle of Achievement
 this time around, finishing with $500,000. “It’s so extraordinary.”

                                                                 Stellar Success

                                                                 Katy’s MK resume is an impressive read. She debuted
                                                                 as an Independent Sales Director one year after
                                                                 starting. Her motivation then — to get the products at
                                                                 a discount and to allow her friends and family to do
                                                                 the same — is drastically altered. She worked hard
                                                                 to reach Sales Director status because “I knew that I
                                                                 could make a difference in my life and the lives of
                                                                 others.” What started as a thrifty material goal has
                                                                 quickly become a philanthropic business pursuit.

                                                                 Within Katy’s first 8.5 months she ranked #18 in Court
                                                                 of Sales across Canada. Fast forward to today when
                                                                 she has earned the Top Director Trip to Scotland.
                                                                 Her staggering list of career highlights also includes
                                                                 reaching Double Star Achiever, Triple Star Director
                                                                 and Destination Red Achiever.

                                                                 It’s safe to say Katy has finally found her calling.
                                                                 Before Mary Kay she worked as a care attendant
                                                                 for 16 years, a beauty consultant in a pharmacy, an
                                                                 administrative assistant, a consultant selling meat
                                                                 contracts and, for a spell, she ran her father’s family
                                                                 farm.

                                                                 From this seemingly meandering path she has
                                                                 learned valuable skills in providing support and
                                                                 stellar customer service. Ever the optimist with
                                                                 a sunny outlook on life, it’s been Katy’s lifelong
                                                                 personal mantra to smile at every person she meets
                                                                 “because that can be the only smile they will receive
                                                                 all day.” Saying ‘Thank You’ as often as she can for
                                                                 the smallest of gestures is another habit she has
                                                                 developed and constantly encourages others to
                                                                 adopt.

A Mission of Love

The fact that Katy can make a good living while giving her colleagues the
opportunity to succeed in their own way is the miracle of Mary Kay, she
says. Katy is proof that in this industry, great things are accomplished when
others are given help. When disappointment and rejection come into play —
admittedly few people can avoid a pitfall or two — Katy digs deep to focus
on the positive.

“Together, the Pink Diamonds and I will work for the million all the while
helping as many people as possible to succeed in their lives.”

Always one to give credit where credit is due, Katy bestows plenty on her
family. “They have always helped me a lot.” Her husband and partner of 20
years, Louis, “is always encouraging me not to let difficult obstacles stop me.”
And Katy is inspired as much as she admires her two children: daughter
Chloé, age 18 and son Raphaël, 16.

The future is bright for Katy and the Pink Diamonds. “I see living my future in
abundance and love while continuing my mission because a lot of people
deserve love.”

                                                                 The Magic of Mary Kay

                                                                 It’s a whirlwind about face from a not-so-great start. When plans
                                                                 for a party in mid-March were dashed because the onset of the
                                                                 pandemic shut down the city, Diana and her Mary Kay friend
                                                                 Lauren Bellissimo held a virtual version instead. But Diana’s
                                                                 heart wasn’t in it. “I wasn’t sure I was even interested in building
                                                                 my business, I just went along with it all,” she said. “But then
                                                                 something happened, and looking back it was quite magical.”

                                                                 As a news broadcaster for a local radio station, the worldwide
                                                                 coverage of the deadly virus had now hit close to home — and it
                                                                 was Diana’s job to report the grim reality. Eight hours each day.
                                                                 Five days a week.

                                                                 She turned to Mary Kay as an escape. “I needed to get my mind
                                                                 off it all.” So Diana tuned into a Facebook live event hosted
                                                                 by unit Sales Director Robin Courneya-Roblin. “I was blown
                                                                 away by the support, the sisterhood and the positivity of these
                                                                 women who I didn’t even know,” said Diana. She was hooked on
                                                                 the happy feelings these strangers elicited. Until that moment,
                                                                 Diana was oblivious to how much she really needed the lift.

                                                                 “From there, I made a commitment to myself to go all in, to jump
                                                                 in with both feet, to get out of my own way and just see what
                                                                 happens if I really worked at it and had fun in the process.”

                                                                 This was a hard-won mindset for Diana to adopt. High anxiety
                                                                 has at times, hijacked her life. In recent years she’s made it
                                                                 her mission to be more transparent; to tell people it’s OK not
                                                                 to be OK. She admits she too was guilty of using social media
                                                                 to channel a rosy picture of a shiny, happy person who had it
                                                                 all together, even when she didn’t. “Why do we do this,” Diana
                                                                 asks rhetorically. “I think it’s important to remember that
                                                                 especially in the age of social media, things aren’t always what
