4 Corporate Happenings SME Bank Contributes Cash to Boost Fight Against COVID-19 I n response to the Government’s call for agencies, non-government organizations and private sectors to assist in the effort to fight against COVID-19 pandemic, SME Bank, as an agency under the Ministry National Disaster of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Management Agency (MEDAC), extended a helping hand by contributing (NADMA) zakat amounting RM300,000 to recipients which include the National Disaster Management Agency RM 100,000 (NADMA), Ministry of Health (MoH) and Hospital Serdang with each receiving RM100,000 and Hospital Serdang, Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia Ministry of Health (MoH) (AIBIM) each receiving RM25,000. Corporate Happenings 5 Memorandum Persefahaman antara SME Bank dan Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia (DOSM) S atu majlis menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman di antara SME Bank dan Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia (DOSM) telah diadakan pada 26 Jun 2020, bertempat di Foyer Auditorium, Aras 2, Menara SME Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Pemeteraian MOU ini adalah merupakan bukti komitmen SME Bank dan DOSM untuk memperkasakan sektor PKS negara. Kerjasama ini akan membolehkan SME Bank dan rakan-rakan strategik yang lain memahami pola tingkah laku usahawan PKS secara khususnya dan orang ramai secara amnya tentang tabiat mereka menguruskan sumber kewangan di dalam berbelanja. Ia juga merupakan sebahagian daripada Program Pemecutan Dua-tahun SME Bank dan telah membuka ruang baharu dalam memacu pelaksanaan Platform Digital PKS Kebangsaan yang telah terajui oleh SME Bank semenjak tahun 2019. Corporate Happenings 7 Ihya’ Ramadan Anjuran Ibu Pejabat SME Bank S ME BANK terus menyantuni golongan B40 dan gelandangan menerusi beberapa program bersempena dengan bulan Ramadan yang mulia dan juga bagi meraikan kemeriahan Syawal. Semasa kekangan pergerakan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP), pelbagai aktiviti telah dijalankan di setiap rangkaian cawangan SME Bank dan tidak ketinggalan, di Ibu Pejabat juga turut menghulurkan bantuan kepada golongan yang kurang berkemampuan mengikut garis panduan yang telah ditetapkan oleh Kerajaan. SME Bank telah bekerjasama dengan NGO dan agensi kerajaan yang terpilih bagi menyalurkan bantuan ini. Melalui kerjasama projek ‘Feed the Love’ oleh Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS), SME Bank selaku penyumbang utama telah menyalurkan sejumlah RM15,000 dalam bentuk hamper makanan dan barang keperluan asas bernilai RM150 setiap satu untuk diagihkan kepada 100 keluarga yang terjejas punca pendapatan akibat PKP di PPR Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Penyerahan sumbangan telah diadakan pada 14 Mei 2020 dan disampaikan oleh Encik Muhammad Aiman Mohd Zain, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif, YSS dan Puan Raja Fairuz, Ahli Majlis Zon 18, Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Selain itu, sebagai tanda penghargaan kepada jasa para pejuang di barisan hadapan, sebanyak 300 pek makanan untuk juadah berbuka puasa telah disumbangkan kepada kakitangan di Hospital Sg. Buloh dan Pusat Kuarantin dan Rawatan Covid-19 di MAEPS, Serdang. Tidak ketinggalan juga sebanyak 150 pek makanan untuk juadah berbuka puasa turut diedarkan kepada gelandangan yang menetap di Pusat Transit Gelandangan Kuala Lumpur. Pada masa yang sama, setiap cawangan SME Bank juga bergiat aktif menyalurkan sumbangan seperti pek makanan, hamper dan duit raya kepada golongan sasar terpilih seperti mereka yang bertugas di barisan hadapan di hospital, anggota polis, angkatan tentera, anak-anak yatim dan keluarga miskin. Nilai sumbangan yang disalurkan adalah sebanyak RM93,000. Program Ramadan merupakan aktiviti tahunan di bawah tanggungjawab Korporat SME Bank dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan kualiti hidup dan memberi keceriaan kepada golongan kurang berkemampuan dan B40.
8 Corporate Happenings Ramadan is the Month of Blessings- Engagement with the Community by 23 SME Bank Branch Networks O ne of the pillars of our Corporate Responsibility (CR) activities is giving back to the community. As a caring corporate citizen, we continuously lend our hands to support the underprivileged. As part of our annual CR activities, SME Bank continued organising Ramadan programmes at its head office and branch networks, within the permissible movement control order (MCO) guidelines. For this year, SME Bank has allocated a total of RM69,000 for head office and 23 branch networks to organise the Ramadan activities at their respective areas. The allocation comprises of Zakat amounting RM1,500 and CR budget of RM1,500 each. All these activities were conducted with the aim to ease the burden of those effected by the COVID-19 outbreak during the month of Ramadan and to help them prepare for the Hari Raya celebration. A total of 370 beneficiaries received the benefits from our CR activities that were organized throughout Malaysia. The activities included distribution of packed food to the frontliners, distribution of food hampers and cash to asnaf, poor families, orphanage homes and tahfiz centres.
