Monthly Value - JOY - At SJS we incorporate the Archdiocese’s Values Infusion Program into our daily studies. JOY is the pure gift of God's grace and happiness. Being joyful helps us to make good choices and to be tolerant with each other. When was the last time you had a spontaneous laugh because your heart was absolutely overwhelmed with joy? Whether you're facing mundane routines or painful hardships, joy often feels out of reach. But, those who know Jesus can live joyfully, no matter what, because they have a deep and abiding joy that only Jesus Christ can give. Jesus engulfs His followers with great love so that He may fill them with His joy. SJS JOURNAL | PAGE 2
The Gift of Music As you may know, one of the traditions I have started at Saint Joseph School is playing "The Song of the Day." I believe that music is a highly effective way to learn religion, language, and math; I believe it develops critical listening skills and memory; the emotional healing that music can provide cannot be underestimated; as my Great-Grandfather used to say, "Music is good for your soul." My gift to you is this Advent/Christmas Playlist! Please enjoy these songs and music videos (most are available on YouTube) with your family! I pray that you have a peaceful Christmas; we hope for a healthy, blessed New Year! Year of St. Joseph! VATICAN NEWS!! In a new Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis describes Saint Joseph as a beloved father, a tender and loving father, an obedient father, an accepting father; a father who is creatively courageous, a working father, a father in the shadows. The Letter marks the 150th anniversary of Blessed Pope Pius IX’s declaration of St Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To celebrate the anniversary, Pope Francis has proclaimed a special “Year of St Joseph,” beginning on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (December 8, 2020) and extending to the same feast in 2021.
