Welcome to the Set to Scale program based on the Scaling Up Methodology. This
program is intended to support your company as you work with a certified Scaling Up
coach to get key components of your business aligned for growth. Identifying a coach
that your team identifies with and connects to is an important task as this person will be
working with you over the next 6-months.

Provided in this document are biographies for 7 Scaling Up coaches who are available
through this program. Once your company is accepted into this program, we encourage
you to read through their biographies and arrange conversations with the 2 or 3 coaches
to determine the best fit for your organization.

Andy Buyting is a serial entrepreneur who started working in family business at the age of six. He
is a business graduate of the University of New Brunswick as well as the Birthing Of Giants
program at MIT in Boston. Andy has owned and scaled several businesses over the years
including companies in the farming, retail, marketing media and real estate development
industries.

As a Certified Scaling Up Coach, Andy brings over 20 years of sales, marketing, operations,
business development and entrepreneurship experience to his clients. He currently coaches the
executives of various national and international growth companies as they expand and develop
their businesses to the next level. His personal track record speaks for itself. 92% of his “for-
profit” clients have top line growth of at least 2x industry average and exponential bottom line
growth. Also, 71% of the “for-profit” companies that Andy has coached over the past 10 years
have gone on to sell for 2x – 8x industry multiple and often 5-10x founder’s expectations!

Andy’s passion is business, reading an average of 28 books annually. He is also a published
author of two books; The Retailer’s Roadmap to Success (2007) and How to Win Clients and
Influence People (2nd edition 2019 – an international best seller on Amazon). Andy has delivered
countless keynote presentations and workshops to entrepreneurs, business leaders and
marketers all over the world, and is also a TEDx speaker.

Andy lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick with his wife Paula, two kids, Leah (15) and Carter
(11) and three dogs. Andy spends his free time heavily involved in his kids’ sports – Leah’s
competitive basketball and Carter’s competitive hockey.

Damian with a keen understanding of what it takes to harness the energies of a large, diverse
team, leading different business units together to achieve common goals.

He has a strong communication style and can clearly articulate a vision to a broad team while
building consensus with various stakeholders, both within an organization and throughout the
broader community. Damian employs a consultative and approachable coaching style, attuned
to feedback, welcoming input from team members and stakeholders and is currently working
with 9 clients in varied industry. He has grown several successful businesses from the ground
up, gaining a ‘nuts-and bolts’ understanding of all operations, from human resources to working
with international suppliers.

Damian’s background in running his own business, and in many other association and volunteer
roles, has provided him with a keen understanding of the power of the tourism, events and
hospitality sector to generate economic activity in Nova Scotia for the betterment of all citizens.
Complementing that is extensive experience as an innovative, successful, self-starting
entrepreneur.

Damian Byrne is the principal owner of Alementary Services, which offers coaching/consulting
services to a broad range of clients. His Certifications include Scaling Up, 3Hag, NLP Assoc
Practitioner and Top Grading and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from SMU. His practice
focuses on 3HAG to help entrepreneurs grow their business and predictably reach far beyond
their perceived potential. He brings more than 25 years of CEO and entrepreneurial experience
to the table.
Coupling the tools, the passion for coaching leadership teams, with his drive and
experience, he aims to make company growth highly successful and profit predictable.

In his spare time, he enjoys an active lifestyle. He participates in Ironman Triathlons. He lives in
Halifax, with his wife Mary Ellen. His three adult children, Jessie, Rachel and Lucas are
scattered in Halifax, Whistler and New Zealand.

Prior founding Conseil SCM, Stéphanie worked in various manufacturing environments and spent
most of her 20- year career at Bombardier. As a manager, she utilised on a daily basis the Scaling
Up technique which helped her deliver valuable business objectives. Later on, during her years
as a CSeries Chief of Operations, she successfully applied the People and Execution practices to
improve her skillset.

personal balance and happiness.

Shawn brings over 20 years of business experience to the table. As a business founder, he has

Daniel is Co-founder and CEO of Growth Institute, the leading online executive education company for
C-level executives at fast growing firms. He is a keynote speaker and a CEO Coach, with a mission to

He is the founder and main contributor of CapitalEmprendedor.com, a website dedicated to helping
entrepreneurs in Spanish-speaking markets scale their businesses.

Additionally, Daniel is the CEO of ExO Education in partnership with Salim Ismail, and serves as the
Ambassador of Singularity University in Austin, TX. He is a member of YPO and EO.

Earlier in his career, Daniel was a broker at Lloyd’s of London and later served as a Financial Attaché
to the Consulate General of Mexico in Hong Kong. In 1999, he created the first financial website focused
on Mexican financial markets, Finanzas Web, which was later acquired by Patagon.com, a leading
financial site in Argentina. Daniel became the CEO of Patagon Mexico and was selected as a member
of “30 under 30” by Expansion Magazine.

Daniel is a graduate of EO’s premiere CEO program “Birthing of Giants”, and its continuation “Gathering
of The Titans”. He also holds a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from I.T.E.S.M. and an
M.B.A. (cum laude) from Babson College in Wellesley, MA.
