ST. CLARE OF MONTEFALCO SCHOOL FROM THE DESK OF ANN K. CROWLEY We celebrated The First Day of School Monday, August 30. We welcomed many new families and greeted re- turning families too. Staff was pleased to see all the smiling faces along with all those new school supplies. It took a bit of time to get into the classrooms and get settled. Everything is so excit- ing with all being new at the begin- ning of the school year. The first day was a free dress day for the students. Tuesday, we began wearing our uniforms and students were able to eat outside on tow- els for lunch. We had a good four days this first week of school before Labor Day. Processes and procedures were the routines of the day. The Berkley teachers be- gan their Special Subject teaching on Tuesday. The week coming up we immediately begin STAR testing our students in kindergarten thru grade eight. We do not let grass grow under our feet. The immediate feed- back provided by this Math and Language Arts testing will be used to focus instruction on areas that need intro- duction or support for our falcons. Our Meet the Teach- er night occurs Wednesday. Parents will able to enter the school to see their children’s classrooms. PTO will also have its first meeting following that Meet the Teach- er event. We are wearing masks and following the same COVID- 19 protocols we had in place at the beginning of last school year. Only staff members and students are al- lowed in the school building during the school day. Wayne County mandated all the children and adults in Wayne County schools must wear masks whether vac- cinated or not. The Archdiocese of Detroit sent schools a letter from the Reverend Jeff Day, Vice General and Moderator of the Curia, to share with parents who ques- tioned the wearing of masks. He shared we are follow- ing the mandate provided by the counties implement- ing masks because they are being worn to protect oth- ers. The church is protecting others by following the mask mandates. Next week our preschool teachers will update with what is going on in their classrooms. We are honored to share all the good news. May God’s blessing be with you, 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 6 September 5, 2021 View this bulletin online at www.DiscoverMass.com
OUR PARISH COMMUNITY ST. CLARE HOSPITALITY — NAME TAG SUNDAY Fr. Andrew, Deacon Rich and the Hospitality Committee are inviting us to please fill out and wear a name tag when you come to Mass on Sept. 11/12. Since we cannot shake hands at this time, what a better way to say hello to our neighbors, than by name. If you haven’t seen your “pew” neighbor in a while and forgot their name, or if the faces around you are new, wouldn’t it be nice to say HELLO calling them by name. At His resurrection, Jesus called Martha by name, so too can we call each other by name! Welcome Home everyone! MAKE A PRAYER REQUEST ST.
