Patron Spotlight: Beverly & Dana Bonner Beverly and Dana Bonner are frequent patrons at Ashland Senior Center. They met in Sacramento while both were working for the California Youth Authority. Dana is originally from Boston and had served in the Air Force. He had formerly been the Regional Parole Officer in this part of California. Beverly, originally from Sacramento, went on to become an expert witness for juveniles, traveling, researching and testifying about whether juveniles should be tried as adults or minors. Dana helped by driving Beverly to her job sites, as he was already retired by this time. Dana and Beverly moved to Ashland in 1989 to enjoy OSF and the arts scene. They have been attending Senior Center events, movies and the Food & Friends lunch for many years. Beverly was active in Line Dance and is now taking Tai Chi. Residents of Jackson County who are 55yrs+ and experiencing challenges related to aging may benefit from this free counseling service offered by Community Volunteer Network. Both phone and home visits are available. Together with your trained peer counselor, you will set goals to help cope with transitions and set a schedule for weekly sessions. Sessions focus on common issues of aging such as: • Loss of health • Change in functional abilities • Maintaining independence Seeking Large Print Books • Depression/anxiety Ashland Senior Center is seeking more LARGE • Loneliness/social isolation/grief PRINT books for our Free Library.
