CUI Special Recognition • CPT Richard Berrouet focused his Forge presentation on adjusting the marketing themes of SHARP and the availability of SARCs/VAs to foster conditions that encourage more Soldiers to seek resources earlier on before SH turns into SA. • SSG Marta Bialkowski focused her Forge presentation on how we can better address and communicate the consequences of SH/SA and better educate Soldiers on consent. • SSG Nicole Haig-Brown focused her Forge presentation on how incorporating combatives into SHARP training will “combat” the corrosives of SH/SA while also building readiness. • 1LT Scott Klein for his efforts for the Torah dedication and his overall support in making improvements for Chapel 3. 8 of 54 18 May 21
CUI COL (R) Mr. Robert T. “Bob” Burns Distinguished Civilian Service Medal Mr. Robert T. “Bob” Burns distinguished himself throughout his tenure as the Senior Department of the Army Civilian (DAC) of USAG Fort Bliss as well as the Senior Civilian Leader of the U.S. Army’s 1st Armored Division (1AD) Mission Support Element prior to integration. When he retired in October of 2020, Bob’s 12 year career saw him lead Fort Bliss through the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, and Fort Bliss’ conversion from a TRADOC installation to a true FORSCOM installation. Bob led the installation’s efforts which transformed Fort Bliss into the Army’s most complex Power Projection Platform (AP3), and the largest Mobilization Force Generation Installation in DOD it is today. He stood-up the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss; and oversaw the most extensive military construction (MILCON) expansion of its time. He modernized 1.12 million acres of training area making Fort Bliss the Army’s premier training location; and built the Department of Defense’s only CONUS Replacement Center (CRC). Bob Burns’ visionary leadership, the initiatives he spearheaded, and changes he implemented stand in testament to his operational, tactical, and strategic impact Army-wide; and his genuine care for the Soldiers and Civilians of our Army stand as his greatest legacy. It is truly fitting that this summer, as we mark the 10th Anniversary of the 1st Armored Division’s repositioning to Fort Bliss, we have the honor of presenting Mr. Bob Burns with the Secretary of the Army’s first-ever Distinguished Civilian Service Medal, not only, to a Fort Bliss Civilian, but first within the Installation Management Command, Directorate of Readiness. 10 of 54 18 May 21
