Course Content: Business Studies is about how individuals and groups of people organise, plan, and create and develop goods and services to satisfy customers. Features of a small business such as how a business is formed and structured and manages its people and operates on an ongoing basis. Crucial functions within a business such as marketing and human resources. Opportunity to create your own business so you can put all that you have learned into action. You will learn business in a practical, hands-on way and develop some entrepreneurial skills. Students will be part of the Young Enterprise Scheme which will allow them to create a business and put them in touch with mentors outside of the school. Young Enterprise organise activities throughout the year to allow our Business students to meet other budding entrepreneurs at other schools, receive specific training related to their role in their business as well as providing several forums to sell their products outside the school. It is desirable that students have prior drama or performance experience. Course Content: Students will: Study a significant play and research its importance. Work with a script to explore voice, body, movement, and space in performance. Use elements and conventions to devise and perform a drama based on a theme. Select and use features of a theatre form in a performance. Demonstrate understanding of the use of drama aspects within live performance in an exam. Course Content: This course covers the four main language skills of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. The course brings together and extends the language and culture experienced in Years 9 & 10. There is a shift in language use from survival skills to social competence and interaction on matters of daily importance such as travel, family, interests, and friendships. Students will be able to communicate information, ideas, and opinions on practical matters, and will be able to successfully use the past, present, and future tenses. Work from previous years is consolidated and extended and there is a shift in focus from survival skills to social competence. Students can understand and produce more complex language. They can communicate beyond the immediate context, for example, about past and future events. Students can also understand and produce a variety of text types.
