CONGRESS REGISTRATION AND 32 International PROGRAMME speakers in conjunction with our local experts July 2019 Opportunity to interact with opinion LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN: CONGRESS COMMITTEE 2019 leaders in all fields of orthopaedics Dear Colleagues The Combined meeting of the South African Orthopaedic Association is now less than 2 months away. It will take place from the 2nd to the 6th of September 2019 in Durban, South Africa at the International Convention Centre. Our theme is Unity in Diversity. On behalf of the SAOA and the Congress Committee I would like to invite you to all attend. Arrangements are at an advanced stage and 32 International invited speakers have agreed to participate. This in conjunction with our local experts represents a phenomenal opportunity to be exposed to the latest opinion leaders in all The program has contributions from 10 subspecialty groups and includes professional development sections. I would like to thank the Orthopaedic trade for their participation. The latest developments in implants and technology will be displayed and presented. There are parallel sessions where the best Registrar papers will compete for the GT du Toit prize. This combined format also represents an opportunity for members functions. The accompanying persons committee have organized an interesting program for spouses and partners to enjoy. Durban is a vibrant city on South Africa’s east coast with a fusion of culture and cuisine. There is also a beautiful coastline and Best wishes promenade to enjoy, with game parks and the Drakensberg Dr Ian Stead Mountains not too far away for those wanting to extend their stay. BRUCE SIDNEY RUBIDGE SA Arthroplasty Society (SAAS) Theme: Academic Enhancement in Revision Prof. Bruce Rubidge is Total Knee Director of the DST/NRF Arthroplasty Centre of Excellence for Palaeosciences. Following completion of his B.Sc., Hand B.Sc. (Hons) cum laude at emystifying Common Hand problems Stellenbosch University he was appointed to a cura- torial position in the Karoo SA Society for Hip Arthroscopy (SASHA) Palaeontology Department ip Preservation: The Young patient’s Choice at the National Museum in Bloemfontein in 1980, becoming Head of the Department in 1982.
