Total also chose this time to launch Project PURE: the new
packaging for Total, rolling out globally in January 2020.
With this happening, stock rotation and stock control will
be critical. I am advised that stock rotation is in hand at
every branch which is great but extra attention will need to
be made here please. More on PURE in this newsletter.

Remember our logging industry update in the August newsletter?
Log export was tumbling due to a combined negative impact: oversupply

to prices dropping as China could take it’s pick. The situation has started

    STATS AND HOLIDAYS
Everyone should have requested their leave for the Christmas period
in Bamboo. If you haven’t, then please do this ASAP.
After checking in with our manager’s that this was a good idea and something that
our people would appreciate, we have decided to have our first holiday ‘closedown’.
We will be officially closed two days - Friday 27th December and Friday 3rd January.
This means everyone is required to take annual leave for those two days (again
    please add to Bamboo).
What about our customers? So we can continue to service our customers if they
desperately need it, one person per branch will be on call for each of those days.
That person will not be required to take leave for that day (paid as normal).
If they receive a call from a customer and have to go into the branch they will receive
a day in lieu (extra days leave). All our customers will be notified ahead of time.
The stat holidays are – 25th and 26th December and 1st and 2nd of January.
    Happy holidays!

About Grant I started working at Oil Intel on the 21st October and
I was born in Rotorua, lived in Whakatane and Ohope spent most of this time alongside Reuben and Craig visiting
until my early teens, then moved to Auckland. I am married branches for budget meetings, strategic plans and to further
to Rhonda (a Hawke's Bay girl) and we have two boys – understand regional and branch activity. During these first
Jasper (7) and Zach (4). I played rugby in the UK for 3 years five weeks I’ve learnt that there is a lot of talent and passion
and travelled a large portion of Europe at the ripe old age in our organisation; great people who are proud of where

    Background Goals
My career in the early days covers 11 years with ITW My immediate goal is to get out and meet everyone and
construction (Ramset, Buildex and Proline) in Melbourne, understand the company processes and procedures. Long
then DEWALT NZ before ITW corporate came calling again term: implement the strategic plans that Wayne, Reuben
and asked me to manage WELDWELL NZ in Onekawa. and I are currently developing, promote our values and
I was ready for something less corporate and made the pillars, develop our people and continue to drive this
decision to work for Chemz, a family owned company. business to be the best it can be!
    Joining Oil Intel Lessons?
I was lucky enough to be a supplier to Oil Intel and felt Hindsight is a beautiful thing, learning what to fight for
that this relationship gave me a great insight into what and what to leave alone have been hard lessons learnt.

    SPEAKS ABOUT
    MHAW
    Mental Health Awareness Week
(MHAW) commenced on the 23rd of
September, with this year’s theme as
    "Explore Your Way to Wellbeing".
The week kicked off with a message from
Reuben, we thought it was particularly
important for him to talk about his
experience with mental health, being our
Managing Director, and someone we all
go to for guidance. Reuben got out of his
comfort zone (he hates being on camera) to
answer questions about how he manages
his mental health. He explained the stress
of travelling and keeping those around him
happy, and that exercising is a way for him
to clear his head and get ready to tackle the
day. After the gym in the morning, he finds
himself ‘in a better position to face the day’.
Each day of the week, we were provided
with information on exploring the way
to well-being. ‘Pay It Forward’ was an
excellent example of getting those feel-
good hormones. The Pataka Kai – Free
Open Street Pantry was a great example of
this. Not only does a good deed make the
other person feel fantastic, but it makes you
feel this way too. Winner of the MHAW was
Bernie, who got up early and did a rather
spiritually sounding ‘Walk into the Light’ as
    the sun rose (see photo).
The benefits of being active was another
important aspect we spoke about during
MHAW. Studies show that exercise can
treat mild to moderate depression, and
a recent study tells us that running for
15 minutes a day, or walking for an hour,
reduces the risk of major depression by
26%! (So keep smiling while climbing that
    mountain).
